SXR Gas to fuel ratio

Hey guys i"ve been running 50:1 since i got it but it recommends 60:1 i was wondering if there is a better ratio to run in a SXR with a wet pipe?
Or is there a forum already started on this?

Thanks boys!

Is 60:1 to thin of a mix for a new stock sxr. My 92 550sx calls for i think 50:1. Just wondering if the fuel system or plugs maybe the cause for the thin mix. Or is it an emissions issue.

Ok I'm going to start running 48:1 and thanks for that CHRISFIORE15 for that, i meant to post GAS to OIL! lol
Thanks guys just was interested in what everyone else was going haha

Kawasaki put that 60:1 sticker on there to please the tree huggers. Sure it will run on that but more oil means a better lubricated engine. Run it at 40:1 and you'll have a 500 hr motor

How exactly do you measure 48:1? :)

well turns out to be 20L of gas ( VP tank ) and 500ML of oil i can't remember the break down of it all

Also well I'm on this topic i was running roughly 40:1 by mistake and i had blue smoke coming out of my pisser, mind you i have the wet pipe so the pisser hose is combined with the camber?? comments? is that normal?

does the engine even run haha with 28:1 the plugs must be fouled right out?

exactly what i was thinking!!

Run whats comfortable to you. Some people think more oil helps seal the cylinder for more compression. Lots run 28:1. Some people think it will foul plugs. I can teel you I never mixed over 35:1 for an entire year, 100 gallons or more, prob more around 30:1, in a bone stock 650 sj, and never once fouled a plug. I run walmart Supertec also, which Im pretty damn sure is rebadged yamalube. The cost of my cheap oil GREATLY offsets the cost of a stock topend

50:1 is a little lean IMO, I wouldnt run 60:1 myself. Anywhere between 30-50:1 and you should be fine.

Haha, I'm sure it does, although I actually run 40:1 in my SXR with wet pipe, and also have blue smoke coming out of the pisser. It is perfectly normal. I just stated Group K's recommendation to show how extreme the oil:gas ratio recommendations go. But one good way to think about it is that a heavy oil ratio will only hurt your plugs, at the most, maybe, costing you $10 per set, tops. On the other hand, 60 or even 50:1 WILL eventually cost you an earlier rebuild costing you hundreds. Moral of the story, don't run 60:1

I don't mean to be a dik, but that is pure speculation unless you have your hands on some sort of study of long term oil mix vs wear. I might say that 60:1 MAY cost you an earlier rebuild, but I personally have nothing to base this on accept internet "common knowlege".

I had my SXR engine built by Art at Blackjack. It was bored to 84mm, ported, crank rebuilt and assembled to run 92 octane with my wet pipe and Art's curve in my Advent T3. He recommends the same thing as far as I know for all of his engine builds, and that is 50:1 Amsoil Dominator.

On the other end of the specturm, X-Scream suggests that owners of their products run QuickSilver at 28:1 and most have no issues because of it.

I'll pose this question: Could it be possible that a higher quality oil actually lubricates better at 60:1 than a lower quality oil does at 50:1?
