I was thinking about using some Gator Grip pads to do the rails and chinpad on my new ski. I will definately use Hydroturf for the bottom mat and for the footholds, but was looking to dress up the ski a little with something different.

Who here has used Gator Grip before and what are your opinions on the quality, looks, ease of installation, etc???

I personally do not like the look of Gator Grips, and since I have never seen it in person.... I can not tell you about install or quality.

Big Toe just got done turfing his ski with it. He said it was not as flexible as HT.

I took a brief look at it. I think it might not be as thick as standard HT. Def. a little harder than Black HT too.

That being said. I have never personally used it on a ski.

you thought it was harder? maybe as in less padding. I thought it was thiner and less dense.

yeah a little slicker. it seems to have a more rubber backing and that was not giving as much. we put it in a vice last night and heated it and tried to stretch and wrap it and it gave but not a lot. the Ht pulled a lot easier but we went too much and ripped it. and for what it is worth I thought it was softer on top and a little thicker but I was working with the smooth HT. so?

I used it years ago on my sxi pro that I raced, it had decent grip but if given the choice, always go with hydroturf....

Chick, what color are you planning to turf? what color gator grip?

Red and Black Gator Grip---go figure....

Black Hydroturf

Steve suggested grey for the turf, but I will put another color in with the graphics that I end up doing. Leaning towards silver and carbon-fiber "look" graphics.
