Update:

Adding the following over my winter break in February 2011:

- ATP Keepers
- Second Bilge
- Rotary bilge switch in the dash
- Handlepole limiting rope
- Hood straps
- B Pipe!!!
- Worx 228 Intake Grate
- Stubby Cone (x-h2o member Freestyle 650's stubby cone)

- Reinforce the engine compartment and handle pole bracket

Should be a busy week, I hope I can get it all done. Brappp

Finally moving out of the stock ski I have been riding for the last couple years.

Installing:

- Bilge
- Rickter footholds

Not much but its the first work I've done on a ski. Any comments are appreciated.

A little more progress on the footholds:

One small issue I'm having: I foamed behind the footholds this morning, went fine. I took the screws out tonight. I wanted to fill the screw holes with the epoxy glue but in some of the holes the glue keeps being pushed out by air. The hole will form a bubble on the end and nothing will stay in it to allow it to be sealed. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Something to do with the 2 part foam I put in earlier in the day?

Thanks for any help!

I wanted a nice smooth edge.. Maybe I'll do it differently next time, only my first time working with fiberglass and I didn't want to have to worry about leaving air around the screw heads.

For fiberglassing, should I be completely removing the gelcoat where the fiberglass will lay, or should sanding the gel coat nice and rough do the job?

Thanks!

was doing this myself not to long ago .looks like you doing a real nice neat job . i was told to remove the screws before glassing . are you going to cut the rear bondline while you have it stripped ?

your footholds look good. only this is your bilge. ur gunna want to mount the bilge switch on the outside somwhere, (tray, handlebars, under start stop) so this way u can turn on on while u ride.

I just turn it on before I go out and let it run the whole time. Been going well so far, no air locking which is what I was worried about.

Here is the finished product, happy with the way the turf went for my first time.

Thanks Steve

Yah, back from school for a solid week for spring break, want to get most of it done during that week anyway. Would like to get the engine out, reinforcement done, and then the engine back in before I go back so I don't forget how to put it back together haha.

The ATP steering system looks solid, have only heard good things about it so I'm looking forward to testing it out in April when the deep freeze melts away. Steve-UK is a great guy to deal with for ATP parts too up north of the border.

Yea he sells quality parts with amazing service. I got my footholds/turf/underpadding off him about a month ago for my build. Still need to go pickup more stuff so I can get my SN back together for the spring. Can't wait for spring.

yet to get the motor out.. one week from now I think is when it all starts, and i pretty much can't wait hah. winters are way to long up here, right now i look forward to wrenching like i look forward to getting out on the ski in the summer. it's messed up.

once i start pulling the engine out, i'll make sure to document it so i can put it back together and so anyone interested can throw in their .02
