General Info for the weekend

So you are coming to Southern Fried 2015… Good choice. Below you will find some useful addresses and general information regarding the ride.

Sometimes when you check in, the office ladies can be a little stubborn. Please do you best to remain calm, cool, and collected. As long as you are doing everything correct, check in is always a breeze. Do not attempt to talk them into bringing trailers into the campground. They may let you bring them in and drop your skis off, but please take all trailers into the field when they are unloaded. They have a security guard on premises throughout the night and we have never had a single issue with any of our stuff there overnight.

Day trippers, if you do not have a campsite, or a shared site, you will not be able to park inside the camping gate. You will need to pay the $5 dollar day use fee and park in the parking lot down by the boat ramp. From there, just walk across the beach and through the gate to hang out with everyone.

THEY ARE VERY VERY ANAL ABOUT NUMBER OF CARS AT CAMPSITES. It’s a fire marshall thing, not really the campground. But when cars start piling inside the grounds, that’s when we start getting a little bit of hassle. Two cars per site and they must have a pass on the dash. Please park extra cars in the parking lot and have someone from your group pick you up.

Campground is alcohol friendly and pet friendly, so no need to be secretive. Hence the kegger.

Bouys…. The reason we are allowed to put this event on the way that we do is our cooperation with the DNR. We are not allowed to float any type of signage or bouys in the water without a permit. There is a super secluded spot that is a very short ride from the grounds if some want to take the gamble and set up a course. Please do not set them up close to Allatoona Landing and jeopardize the event for the future. If in the future we continue to grow and the event gets bigger, I will be required to gain permits and event insurance and we can float bouys. But that also ads to registration fees for skis ect….

Please obey the 100ft from shoreline rule when coming and going from the campsites. Also, everyone who is riding is expected to follow the general PWC boating laws. Everyone is there riding, and present in their own free will, and is expected to be legal on the water as well. Everyone will be treated as individuals, and we shall self regulate. If a single person is causing a major issue or scene, you could be asked to leave so that the event can continue for the weekend and into the future.

Possibly. Dnr came and watched and "talked" to a few of us last year on the water. I'm registered but don't have numbers on my ski since I'm about to change the registration to florida. I plan to stay in the middle of a pack of riders as possible and "casually" keep as much distance as possible between my ski and dnr.

Same here. Its impossible to get stuff registered in SC without give a DNA sample of the seller and a notarized blood fingerprint from the president

Obey normal/general boating laws it is a "free-ride" not a free-for-all kamikaze session.

Thanks a ton to the organizers. Getting this back on track after a few years away was a great idea.

I'm thinking the stickers will be easier to remove.
Not sure what marker I have but its like chalk once dry. Its called Sharpie Poster Paint something or another. It actually kinda nice b/c its so wide. If i run my finger nail across it it will come off with zero pressure but the water does not seem to have an effect on it but only had them on for a camping trip in Tenn a couple weekends ago. I could probably remove the numbers with ease, but haven't yet so no tellin, could be a royal pain or could come off with a wipe of a rag. There nothing wrong with sticker numbers just wanted to share that for temporary situations there are other options.

My RIP is fully registered and titled but I havent installed my HIN plate or havent gotten my custom numbers in the mail.

As long as you are nice and respectful to the people at the campground, they will (usually) give you the same courtesy. Last year was a slightly rocky start but I believe that was because not everyone read the rules and people were trying to put up hammocks from the trees and had dogs roaming around off leashes.
