Getting ahold of Novi-Tec??

Is there a trick to this? Some event going on right now so he's out of the shop or something?

Over the last week or so I've sent an email, left a voicemail, sent a text (per the instructions on their voicemail) and tried calling several times.

The "online store" on their website seems to be not working.

PHP motor, Zach at PHP recommends Novi carbs. Got my hands on a used set but I want to get new throttle blades and ask a few questions, I'm starting to doubt if I want to use these things, but I'm guessing it's a one-man shop so maybe there is some reason why my timing is bad or some such.
 
These are tricky to install right. Check it and check it again to make sure your plates/blades/butterflies are installed right side up. Green loctite on all small fasteners

I ended up refurbishing a set of plates on my carbs that had a tad of edge wear. Make sure you put new bushings in too.

Make sure your linkage has zero slop. I Use 2pc 8mm clamp collars from McMaster Carr . I grind down the jetworks linkage and the collar so it will fit. The plates will be sticky for awhile(due to new bushings and shafts). Have to exercise them until they have worn in before you install them. These steps will reduce edge wear of your new plates

This is good info. Mine were kind of "worn" from (I think) too much side to side play in the shafts. I was able to actually very carefully tap the deformation back straight again with a hammer, and very (VERY) carefully file to match that very slight angle. Got them to fit pretty well, spent some time fitting them very painstakingly, but they are ever so slightly sticky and wasn't sure if that is acceptable, decided maybe I should just get new blades, and I definitely want to replace the little screws that hold the blade to the shaft.

The prowatercraft thing makes sense. I have all winter so I'll be a little more patient.

Sure you had the plates going in the right way? Shouldn't bind at all between carb body and plates
 
I am 100% certain they are installed the right way. I think you know what I'm talking about where the edge of the throttle plate gets kind of "mushroomed" out from rattling against the bore of the carb because the shaft has too much axial free play. I set the plate on a hard surface and flattened the "mushroomed" part with a gentle tap from a hammer, it's surprisingly easy, but then that section of the edge of the blade has a burr on it, it doesn't have the perfect curve and angle to match the bore of the carb when the throttle is fully closed, so I painstakingly fit the deformed edges with a file. I've had them together and apart many times tinkering with that. The closer you get to fully closed the more perfectly they have to fit and there is still a tiny bit of imperfection when they are fully closed so there is a slight stickiness. I think I could get them pretty close to perfect, but new blades are just not that expensive so I'm thinking I'd be better off getting new blades. This was all a "tinkering in the shop" type deal I didn't really expect to work.
 
Yeah I'm honestly a bit puzzled by that listing in my hot products catalog from 2015. The last time I ordered a set of new throttle shafts from Novi he just sent 2 kits, it's only 1.5* difference, have no idea how you would tell the two apart visually. The butterflies from those kits wore out fast because I wasn't careful with setting up the linkage. Learned from that.

Edit: if you had a pig's eye you probably could spot the difference in angle with a magnifying glass looking at each one

I'm *guessing* that the difference is probably more noticeable than it sounds. The plates aren't round, they are oval shaped because they sit at an angle with the bore fully closed. I'm guessing that is the angle that the 12 and 13.5degrees is refering to. There is probably enough of a difference in length of the "long" dimension that if you held them together you could see it visually. But you would have to be REALLY looking for it. Also it will affect where the blade sits relative to the progression holes, which is probably really important and probably visibly noticeable...if you're looking for it.

Smart money is still to get ahold of the man himself, which I will do. I have better questions to ask now though, so this was worthwhile.
 
The different angle plates, that was the main reason I refurbished the plates that were in the carbs when I bought them. I have the old max-flow carbs from waaay back in the day. Only reason I used different plates is I had to change shafts to link the carbs together for Yamaha spacing. But I am curious about the difference between those two part no.'s
 
The Pro-watercross thing looks like it goes through this week, I was going to make the assumption that's what the holdup is, wait until maybe midweek next week and try again to contact Novi, will report back what I find out.
