Super Jet Getting Back in the Game

Well after not owning a ski since 2014 I finally pulled the trigger in June and bought another superjet. After talking to the seller for a couple days I went to pick it up and it started right away. He informed me that he pulled the pump to fix and tune up the prop so I already knew i wasn't going to ride it but I was OK with it.

What I bought:
97 Superjet, 760 motor, duel 44, head, b pipe, 140 mag pump (which I found was used for racing in the yearly years), ac pole, duel scupper, and some over-sized foot holds that took up most of the trey, lowered stock hood.
I already knew i had some work to get where I wanted it but it was a lot more work then I thought.

What I got:

4 broken motor mounts, busted mid-shaft housing, the scuppers where ran straight through the foam with no tube or PVC pipe., hole in b pipe chamber weld, and that was just the beginning.

I didn't notice these problem until I took it home and started wrenching and cleaning the engine bay. While I took my mechanical issues to Jetworks I decided to fill the scuppers and that is when I noticed the person was just running water through the foam. That led to me replacing the foam and modifying the trey. I cut out the old foot holds and I'm running the full length rec holds and will be running foot straps. As hydro-turf has a 4 week lead time I decided to repaint the ski and this lead to my next issue. As I am sanding I start to realize not only am I running through so much sand paper because it keeps gumming up but their is also about 6 different layers of paint. After a week of sanding i find a bunch of repairs and patches almost as if the ski fell off a trailer and rolled down the street.

I definitely learned to bring some wrenches when buying a used ski but also some people are shady. I even asked the person if their has been any major repairs and they told me they only reinforced it.

To date I just put two layers of topcoat on yesterday and hoping to put two more on later today. I have everything ready to put back in the ski and get it running. Also still waiting on turf.

You should probably save all the broken parts and scraps from the foam maybe even just some random useless stuff from your garage and late one night go sprinkle everything you collected all over the guys front lawn just to you know let him know you’re still thinking of him from time to time haha
