Have they worked on 61x cylinders before? Unless they've got proven results with 701s,id stray away. What kind of shop is it?

Moto engine guys are great but DO NOT let anyone work on your cylinders unless they have a PROVEN track record with 701 engines and cylinders, not just hear say either, go to a jet industry professional and save yourself the regrets. Id start with Jet Maniac, again, save the regrets!

This is why you send your stuff to a reputable builder, and was an expensive lesson to learn. The local phoenix clown who "ported" this cylinder claimed he had experience on Yamahas. He bad mouthed groupK and told me he could do as good or better than them. Unfortunately I listened, and gave him my business. There is over 1.5mm variance in corresponding ports between the two cylinders; width on the exhaust, and height on some of the intake ports. He went too deep on the intake runners, and the aluminum was paper thin. It cracked through to the cooling jacket after a couple months. I've used GroupK for a couple projects since then, and Harry's parts have always come back looking and performing great. There are many good shops to have port your cylinder. Choose wisely.

Thanks for the imput guys i live is socal so i think im gonna takle it to jetworks in Huntington beach/costa mesa. If anyone has any imput on them id appreciate it. Thanks again guys

One more question. Time for new cylinders or run em? If you notice on both cylinders there are dots pressed in to the top it almost looks as if someone pushed a ball point pen really hard on top of the cylinder. Head looks absolutely fine. No nicks and scratches. Also what could that be from?

don't see what your talking about. Have Art bead blast they cylinders to get all that crud cleaned out of the waterjacket and clean the gasket surface. He will most likely do that anyhow.

Can't tell from pics...sounds like a layer of carbon on pistons...scrape it off and see. You'll get a fresh hone/bore anyways if your porting...replace pistons while you're in there.

Sorry picture came out like crap here is a better picture

Looks like your motor digested some metal. Piston is ok as long as whatever was digested is fixed and the rest of the motor is ok. check to make sure the screws to your carb butterfly's are still there. Is there similar damage to the domes of your head?

As far as the crank goes its fine. Almost no movement up and down. Either way art at jetworks convienced me to bore the cylinders and get new pistons with a .5mms offset rings while i get it ported and polished. Also picking up an ada billet head 35cc domes. So about 1100 bucks later not including a carb rebuild kit, (should put new reeds in) or the b pipe or prop, im about half way to bankruptcy for the soul purpose of a barrel roll. Thanks for all the help guys
