Getting low end power for 750sxi lake ski

What can I do to the ski to get more low end power put of my ski, all I ever ride is on the lake, but I want more low end and more hook up out of my pump area and recommendations?? Prop, pump cone, rebuild my pump?

Problem is the kawa's are ported for top end. You are going to need a low pitch impeller and more compression, light weight flywheel, possibly a pump cone and bored exit nozzle. Start with raising compression and getting a lower pitched impeller. Or sell it and buy a superjet with a 61x 701 in it.

Find a sx or xi cylinder ,get nozzle to 80mm, good prop (few choices there)
Sxi has way to much exh. Duration, you cannot get , ... low end ...that you desire without correcting the problem.

Impros recipe is 80mm nozzle and 9/15 hooker impeller.
The nozzle helped on my SXi Pro, impeller is on the way.
Factory pipe is on the list too, Newmiller Head and Flywheel. . .

I sunk a bunch of $$ into my SXIPro trying to get more low end to make it freestyle friendly, and in all honesty I regret every penny spent. I should have kept it stock for chasing buoys and kept the $$ spent on mods and bought an SJ sooner.

Kawis do not make low endpower. Dont spend ypur money trying to get it. Proping down or opening the pump can yeild better throttle response but by letting the motor get to higher rpm faster. If ypu want more torque, go yamaha.

Be sure to understand that gaining throttle response by boring your pump and thus allowing the motor to rev to its powerband faster, is also going to let it turn a higher rpm. I have found that the people claiming to get lots of throttle response are strictly freeriders that recognizethat their tuning choices would cause failure at wot runs. I ride lake too, and im not willing to give up my wot safe rpm for more acceleratiln. If ypu try to ride bouys with a 10 second boat, you will blow it up. Its been a struggle to get that yamaha torque at a safe rpm and im still not happy. My x2 is faster if i let her rip, but the rpm is nearly 8000. How much engine life are you will to sacrifice?

So, you have to realize, that power will come at a cost. Watch your tach and be careful.

As for the people saying to bore your nozzle, the x2 has an 83mm nozzle and trim. If you do go with a x2 nozzle, you can extend your steering cable by using the brass trim coupler from a x2 and a threaded rod. I did this with a 650sx cable in my x2, but i didnt need it anymlre when i changed tl a sxr cable. Incidently, the 650sx cable lines up great wkth the x2 trim, bjt you have to mock something up for the other end.

I am learning that "freestyle" can mean very different things to different people, I tend to describe my style as "recreational freestyle"; like to jump wakes, play rather than chase and race, I am enjoying the heck out of my SXi Pro - what were the limitations of your Pro that you felt you couldn't get past?

Lack of real low end power/instant snap. Plus it's 50 lbs heavier than an SJ which doesn't help at all. Now, please don't take this as bashing. I enjoyed the heck out of my SXIPro as well, I actually miss it sometimes when I feel like going out and carving a course. But for the type of riding I do 99% of the time, and the type of riding I want to be able to reach some day, an SJ is far better suited for that. If the Kawi suits your riding style and puts a huge smile on your face, that is all that matters.

Heck ya I appreciate all the advice, i think with everyones opinions ill be looking toward getting a superjet. My next question would be should i get a round nose or a square nose and which year should i look for???? id love to hear everyones opinion for that as well!!!

Dude, just a little research will go a long way instead of waiting for the answers. They ride the exact same until 08.

Get the best ski you can afford. Rn is better as it has more options for hoods, poles, etc. But many still ride Sn due to budget constraints. Your budget should determine what you want. You may want an aftermarket hull if you have the money. Ita not your first ski so itssafe to sayyou should know what kind of riding you want to do. Test ride everything you can, and go to freerides line up test rides and try some more. Then make a decision.
