Girdled Head Question

i read the installation instructions on ada's website to install their girdled head. it said the girdle kit does not have to be torqued down. is this true? it seems odd that you wouldnt torque them since they hold your cylinder on.

tourqe down? to me that just means tighten. not to any specific pressure.
you need to use an adjustable wrench and follow the directions.
all the bolts and nuts are listed

ive never understood how u torque the nuts/case bolts when u can only do 4 of the 6 as the socket will hit the cylinders.... (riva head tho)

You have to use a 5/8" crows foot wrench to get to it. It has to be attatched to your torque wrench perpendicular to the handle to get an accurate reading.

you can rent for free at autozone a stud tool and hand tighten....makes it easy....I believe the torque #'s are head 18 and acorn's 23...I make it 20 and 25....grease only on o-rings...do not use sealant (because it can alter tolerences and is a pain next time) .

you hand tight the studs as per instructions but they get torqued down later when you install the nuts on top of the studs.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
used a paper towel folded up and a some vise grips to snug the studs down in the holes... of course didnt put the visegrips on the threads.... I just tried to get them to thread all the way down... not tighten really... then torque the acorn nuts and stock bolts to about 10 ft lbs over ADA's recommendation... I had a nice new base gasket for the cylinder since my ski was only about 5 months old at the time, so I did one stud at a time so I would not disturb the base gasket....
