Don't trust a regular mount. I got the helmet mount and put straps through the top front holes. I tied a knot on each of the straps so it couldn't come loose.

i just use a sticky mount, floaty back and parachute cord for a tether. i land on my head alot and some times it angles up even when i tighten it with a screw driver but sticky hasnt failed.

There was a thread on this not too long ago asking different mounting locations. Iv'e seen them all over, on the side, on top, under the visor everything. Comes down to personal preference. Regardless, make the small investment of purchasing the GoPro Lanyard by Profound-Dynamics here on the forums.

Don't be the dude that looses your $300+ camera with memory card cause you didn't buy one. To many people loose their cameras. It's a shame.

^^^If you google "broken go-pro" half the time they break the tabs off the go pro case itself(the clear tabs). I would allways put your lanyard on the camera and not the mount.

Ya the floating door is a great idea. I havent set up mine yet so I don't know my specific solution to attaching the lanyard to the camera body. Some people were glueing them on or wraping the lanyard around the latch that closes the cases together. The best option I have seen though is getting the loop of the lanyard through the pivot pin on the bottom of the camera case. You can do this by either getting the pin out then slipping it back in, with the loop in place or making the loop after you slip the wire through the pin. I bought one from Profound Dynamics because for the $15 shipped I couldn't justify making my own espicially with the quality of the product.

heres how i mounted mine. seems to be holding fine but i do run a profound dynamics teather which is nice because its shielded cable so you dont hear the cable slapping the helmet when riding.

That's a good idea. I have mine on the top of my helmet when I ride my quad. It pulls my head back at higher speeds. It also caught a tree branh and about pulled me off the back of the quad by my neck.
