Keep a eye on wave size.... small waves it would be ok. Anything over chest high, you want something with some power.

I rocked 550's in the surf from 1993-1999. 550's work just fine. But they wear your ass out when you jump and land then bob trying to get going again. Plenty of power to run from the waves. You will have more fun on the 750. SXR's are fun also with a stock plate.

Chris, that d cut blowsion sxr plate may be nice in the waves to loosen that sxr up!
