Freestyle go pro/ helmet cam

has anyone been scared of ever losing there gopro helmet mounted camera? im thinking about getting one, but i am worried, or should i not be worried? does anyone us more mounting hardware than is supplied by gopro? like screws or bolts?

I tether mine to my helmet with fishing line.

Yea, I have used a steel leader for fishing to tether mine. I loop it threw the hinge area then through a hole in the helmet. I also mount a screw in the middle of the mount for added security.

I have a tether for mine too but I connect it to a velcro strap I wrap around the camera instead of looping the through the mount. My thought is that if you loose the thing there is a good chance it is because that mount broke off. There is a thread around here with a bunch of mount and tether examples in it. It should be bumped, been a while since it's been added to.

You definitely need a tether and added flotation. I zip tie a key chain floaty to mine. My first go pro broke between the mount and the case when I landed on the side it was mounted to. I sank pretty fast.

I just cut some Hydro Turf square, put a tiny hole through them, and zip tied them to my GoPro. But it still has yet to even fall off the ski though, the adhesive is strong!
