2 strokes are actually good beginner bikes. Not because they are easier to ride, but because you will learn throttle and clutch control because in order to ride two strokes, you will be working the clutch a lot to keep the RPM's up.

But a 250f is a lot easier to ride. 4 strokes also seem to be more efficient in putting the power to the ground. And with the new FI 4 strokes, you can simply plug your CDI into your computer and de-tune the bike to a friendlier power curve.

250fs are cool until it blows up and you have to drop 2k..

125s will teach you how to ride properly but most of the tracks nowadays are built for 450s and you have to be on it to flow on a 125

I love a hot 125 and always will.
What's your size are you a big boy or
Not. I know the bigger guys never liked my bikes and I loved them but I'm also 5-7 and 135. I'd say if your 200 or close look for a 250

Im selling my kx450f and going back to a 2 smoker. Combo of i dont ride enough to keep the 450 from killing me on the track and all though pretty easy, im not a fan of changing the oil.

A 250 2 stroke is lots of fun and i wont mind it sitting there as much while i ride BOB.

If your just learning a 125 is the best bike. You will learn to ride using all the controls very effectively.

Check out the gary semics mx school dvds. They are very helpful for learning how to ride with the proper techniques.

Yamaha WR250f is the best/easiest beginner bike with the most room for growth. I say get a 2006 or newer YZ125. Light weight, good bottom end power(for a 125), excellent handling and suspension.

If you are going 4stroke, I would definetly agree. You can find them cheap. I have the street legal R version of the WR. Its such an easy bike to ride, they make good low/mid power and just tractor up anything, you dont have to rev it to the moon (unless you want too...lol). The motor is close to the YZ but detuned alot for reliability. There are guys out there who have over 50,000 miles on them. I have not done anything to mine but occasionally change the oil, clean the filter, and put fresh tires on every year.

i went from a rm250f back to 2-stroke after having to rebuild it, cost ALOT. ride 2 stroke. you should start on 125 then move to 250 as you gain experience. 125cc will pull 165lbs no sweat.

2 strokes are great, but theres a reason most people ride 4 Strokes... The power and how the bike puts the power to the ground you cant compare 2T to 4T...

Ride both to see how you like them before buying one.. I would go 250 right from the start.

I once said I would never own a 4 stroke MX bike... Now I ride a KTM 350 SXF & 450 SXF Factory

if your worried about power Service Honda produces a modern day CR500 2 stroke in their aluminum frame. Ive had the opportunity to ride one, gnarly power.
