OK, so it was the top hole not the middle. I'm fired... Hopefully the pics help in some way.

sirmrmanguy...brilliant!!! i got a climbing rack full of them, never even crossed my mind. i wonder given your pic if, like climbing, it might be advisable to avoid the rope through the anchor to avoid it being cut under tension..doesnt take much at all to see a rope under tension blow apart with any kind of edge..perhaps a stainless threaded chain link?

thanks again for the brilliant idea.
Lol you caught me. I'm also a climber. That was just for the picture when I put it on awhile ago to show how it worked, actually have a stainless oval quick link on it then the prusik cord.

I worked on mine last night, I cut a slot all the way through it so the bolts are accessible. I still can't use those bolts for my limiting rope though.

i did something a bit different. Ran a SS i-bolt through with two large washers and some locking nuts through the dash. Bent the i bolt at a 90 degree angle and it works great. Right between the hood latch and fuel selector. I clip the carabiner onto the hood. This also works great as a pole strap while heading to the lake

Handlebar clamp and made my own backing plate. Bike inner tube as the piece between the clamp and the dash.
