Good Idea/Price?

I am looking at getting another watercraft and at first I was looking for a Super Jet to replace my 550. I love riding my 550, but it has been giving me a few minor problems lately. While I was searching for a Super Jet I came across a ad reading this: "1993 YAMAHA WAVEBLASTER. Low hrs., comes with trailer, lift, cover, life jacket, and two piece wet suit, looks and runs great. $2,200". Now for some information. I am a big guy, 6'4" 250 lbs. but I have pretty good balance and can ride my 550 pretty well. I was wondering if this would be a good ski for basically just freeriding and playing around on, and if the price seems ok.

price seems extremely high depending on the mods, condition, and if it has a custom paint job.

i paid $1500 a few years ago for my 94 which came pretty nicely modded in good condition.

i wouldn't get rid of a stand up for a blaster. blasters are awesome skis, but i'd never choose my sj over my blaster.

I will be keeping my 550. So you think 2200 is high even with a trailer and a lift?

So what is a ok price? Is there anything in particular to look for when checking out blasters? Any year to stay away from?

for a 93...

around $1400 to $1600 for a nicely modded one (b pipe, heads, etc) in good shape
around $1100 for a stocker in good condition

that's just for the ski. trailer i'd give around $200 depending on year and condition. a lift i dunno about. wetsuits and such are just an incentive to buy his ski. doesn't add any value at all to me.

check the rear transom for cracks (the lip hanging off the back from the tray). if it has stress cracks, it'll need some work. check the entire hull for cracks too because most blasters have lived long hard lives. also do all the normal checks like motor mounts, prop, etc.

If you like the stand up, buy a Superjet (niceley equiped for $2000) and skip the prolonged inevidable wishing. Keep the 550 as memerabilia cuz once on an SJ you will never get on it again. But it will be fun to watch friends struggle on it.

What SJ said. I kept my 650sx so I could tell people no to the SJ.

you guys are off a bit. blaster prices are higher than what you guys are quoting. watch ebay, you'll see.

at 250 lbs you'll hae a very hard time climbing up the back of a blaster. You'll have to learn how to side mount.

in 2001 I purchased a 94 Blaster w/ B-Pipe, MSD, milled head for $1600...

That was a fair deal in Florida, but may not be other places... Florida boats tend to go for a better price due to the amount of them...

$2000 is not out of the realm of what someone would pay for a nice B1 w/ a trailer and so on... go check it out and let us know what it looks like...

I recently paid 2,500 for stock 95 blaster with nice trailer. Boat was total virgin stock in very nice condition. I thought was acceptable price. I am 6'3" 265lb it will pull you up and around, but you wont be hauling any azz. That said pipe, head, prop, intake grate etc... should be here tomorrow!!!
