I picked up this truck a couple weekends ago from an older man on our block. It's one year newer than my old truck and has 255k less miles. I spent the last 3 weekends swapping parts over to get it road worthy again.

It is a bone stock 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd. It's only a base model SL so it doesn't have all the gadgets I would have liked but it was a great price and only had 68k miles on it.

Here are some pics of how it looked when I first brought it home...I know, I know, it's in pretty rough shape but I could see the potential.

I spent the last couple weekends swapping parts over from my old truck and I think it's starting to finally come around.

Upgrades include;
- 20" Factory Alloy rims with Bridgestone Dueller Alenza tires
- Bilstein 4600 series shocks all around
- Platinum series brake pads all around
- Firestone Air bags in the rear.
- RB1 Factory AM/FM CD player with built in Nav and Sirius Radio
- Customized power seats
- Smoked out windows
- Billet grill set
- 100 watt aircraft landing lights
- Painted top of bumper Red to match.
- Swapped rear bumpers, receiver hitch and 7 pin wiring from the old truck
- Midland 3Watt cell phone booster
- Swapped over a ton of other little parts as well like hood rams, tailgate assist, fire extinguisher, and any other parts that were newer or in better shape off the old truck.

I have a bunch of other pics I planned on posting from my phone but am struggling with this damn Samsung Galaxy S3. Not sure if it's this POS phone or Tapatalk's :):):):)ty Android version. Either way I'm going on week 4 now and I hate it more every day.

It's in rough shape? What's wrong with you?

Totally being sarcastic. It was a single owner, garage kept and a solid 9 out of 10. Hard to see but a few small dings here and there with quite a few scratches, mostly shallow that will likely buff out. Drives like a brand new truck.

Ah ok. From personal experience, Tapatalk's Android version sucks balls. BAD.
One of the big reasons I switched to an iPhone over a year ago.

Cummins 12v 6bt swap!!!!!! Capable of 30mpg with a 6speed!!! Won't even know your hauling skis

I started a thread on that a couple years ago and am currently discussing that as an option for my 2002 Quad cab with 325K miles on it. Perfect truck to chop up. Not going to trash this new gem though.

I have an iPhone 4S and love it but work provided me with the Galaxy S3 with unlimited international everything and told me to use it like it was mine. I've been giving it a solid go but it's not getting any better.

I have the upgraded picture hosting thru Tapatalk on my iPhone but I can't get it to work on this phone...

Jeff Garmon does a "dodge ram 2000". 1500 truck with pretty much a 2500 power train .2wd. If you do decide to hack up your quad cab, I'd highly recommend contacting him.

I am not sure if I dig the hard tonneau either. I can almost fit a ski under the lid...

It looks like I can post pics if the entire post comes from the Galaxy with Tapatalk 2. Normally I type out the body of the text and post the pics from my phone.

One thing I will give the Galaxy is that it's camera is second to none.

Let's try this again. Before pics...

Bumper is a nice touch, for looks I'd ditch the steps but I know they're handy. I will always have a tonneau or a camper in my trucks. Turns the bed into a lockable trunk.

Nice rig! Where did you score the landing lights?

I am digging the steps for now but I can see them coming off in the near future.

I have a three piece fold up tonneau from my old truck that is much easier to take on and off but it is not secure at all. I have a couple different trailers so I really shouldn't need to haul ski's in the bed anymore but it's a convenient option for one of our riding spots.

The aircraft landing lights are easy to get. $15 for a rubber housing and another $18 per lamp and you have the ultimate driving light for a fraction of the cost of crappy OEM units that don't light up chit. I've run them on the last five trucks. Napa stocks them for $26 but I buy them 6 at a time off Amazon for $15 each.

My freak fits under the hardtop of my Colorado if I take the hood off....fyi

That's definitely a good option but only being a regular cab, I wouldn't have a safe place to carry the hood without risk of scratching it up.

I actually think it may close if I take off the hand pole pad.

Nice find! Time to put a lowered hood on that SJ...should be able to close the lid with that! Haha!

Thats a clean truck, does stuff rust fast in Charleston usually? My brother is currently there for school and visiting him is pretty damn fun, downtown is great. Trying to get him to buy a B1 or something

Despite the humidity, vehicles seem to last forever down here with little to no rust at all. The heat causes other issues though like clouded headlight lenses, sagging headliners, cracked dashes and faded paint.

This truck still has the stickers on the frame from assembly. My wife is worried that I won't like driving this truck and that I should go buy a new one but honestly, this little truck looks and drives like a new truck and cost me less than $5K so I am much happier than she understands.
