again, are you bitter that you put a product out there that nobody wanted to buy? your first post reeks of it. "i will have an answer and a new product for you guys in 24hrs or less if there is interest( real interest and commitment)"

maybe the price point was too high at the time? I don't remember seeing it the last time around.

here is the skinny:

What you can do with it

Vehicle Location
Current Address on a Map
Speed
Direction

Satellite and Bird’s Eye Views

Remote Controls
Disable Vehicle

Notifications

Speed Trap Exceeded
Geo-fence notifications

it is about the size of a deck of cards.
weather resistant
no monthly fees ( only annual of about $25 after the first 3yrs)

unit is $595.00

1 yr of fees with all the other units is generally around that much a yr. and you get unlimited tracking, and notifications for 3yrs then about $25 a yr after that. any further questins call me @eight five 0-525-two 023

thanks again and good luck.

I don't think weather resistant will cut it. It doesn't need a bunch of fancy stuff like views and remote shut off. It just needs to be small, completely waterproof, and able to transmit the location if it is stolen. It could be one fee to get it and another fee to activate it.

i am working on it with the source. the un-used functions are just options. they do not have to be used. my link to these is one of the designers and he is going to run some diagnostics on features that i have requested. the difference in these is there is no fees for 3 yrs and $25 a yr after that.

the geo fencing option is what you are wanting the other features are just that features. if there is enough of a market they can reduce it to that but that is a major manufacturing change and expensive..

$200 vs. $600

big difference.

Do you think there is more of a market here for a $200 product with a $25 monthly fee (after activation) than for a $600 product with no monthly fee?

I'd wager that a majority of users here would prefer a $200 product with a monthly fee that they can control when they need to activated rather than the $600 one.

It's not a matter of one product being better than the other - it's simple economics. $600 is a tough pill to swallow, even if it is to protect your ski.

that's true - but consider how many of those type of people there are on here vs. how many there that could not afford to buy a high dollar ski but still want to protect what they have.

I probably have over 10K in my RN. I've never sat down and added it up, it'd probably make me sick to know exactly what I've spent over the years to put it together. One thing I've learned over the years just watching things around here - there are FAR more owners of stock(ish) skis than there are those that own customized/expensive skis. If you tailor your product for only that high-end market, you're going to miss out on a bunch of sales because a bunch of riders simply can't afford the $600 initial cost.

Their wives are already mad that they even spend a bunch of time riding & wrenching and now they have to go and ask for $600 for a GPS device to track it in case it gets stolen...you're married I don't have to tell you how those conversations end.

i know.... i will attempt to work with them on this product. but for them to see a need they have to actually sell some or it will not be in their best interest to make any changes.

Is the monthly fee mandatory? Could you buy it and install it and then two years later call and activate it because it was stolen? Even if activating it was $1000 I would pay it if my ski was stolen, but $600 upfront is a hard pill to swallow.

dang it! thought I was on to something

I liked where your head was at!

I agree, $600 up front is tough. I'd be in at $300 if it were submersible. Has there been a good solution to the battery issue? i.e. hard wireing from the ski's battery vs an internal battery.
