Great, more stitches

Long story short. Had a knot removed from my arm two weeks ago. Six stiches. Took those out Friday night to go in the water this weekend. Didn't feel good Saturday AM, so went dirtbake riding all afternoon. Sunday morning loaded up to go to the beach. Nice clean waves. Cut opened up. Had my wife tape it up. Finished a long beach day. Had my brother stich it up in the kitchen around 7:00pm, because the hospital had a wait and a 50 dollar co-pay. Here are the pics. Enjoy.

I hope you at least called your doctor this morning? Usually if a cut opens up after sutures are removed, that means it has a little infection in there. And for dam sure it does now with the needle nose pliers for needle drivers. And what did you use for sutures, nylon or cotton thread?

Men, can't take them anywhere! :poke:

WoW thats a deep one.
Reminds me of the story when my grandma sewed three of my grandparents fingers back on, and they still work today!!
Hope you heal up right!!

At 50 bucks I think I would give that a go too

So Why don't you tell us the right way to do it never know when you might have to

I had a frozen margaritas for a pain killer.
It was near my elbow. There are not a lot of nerves there. I definitely wouldn't do that in my hand or face without numbing agents.

Odd Duck- we did use a real suture kit. I believe it is nylon. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get a needle through your skin. That is why we had to break out the gerber pliers.

Anyway- It doesn't bother me, just looks like crap.

Scott- I'll see you Saturday. S/B real good in the morning.

Teach you fools so you can all get infections? No thanks! Next thing I'd be gettin' sued cuz some fool didn't clean the wound or the kit or whatever.

OK, here goes.

First, read the entire anatomy book, it's around 900 pages, then read the first 300 pages or so of a general surgery. Next, read the bacteriology and virology book (this should convince you not to do it yourself), it's only about 1200 pages. Then read the first half of the internal medicine book about treating the inevitable infection (the first book is only 1500 pages).

Now that's all covered, go back and re-read the anatomy book so you know which layers to sew to each other and which ones to not sew together.

So, still want to know how to sew yourself up? Sometimes it's about knowing what NOT to do more than what TO do.

:pokey: :jester:

I thought I was building my immune system. I want to tell you about the Christmas ham story that we ate in July.
I got a salt cured ham for Christmas from a vendor at work. We had a little at christmas time with the family and I wrapped it up and put it in the fridge.
I brought it to work to share with some of my friends. It was July. My buddy Jay asked me why there was some rainbow coloring on it. I replied, "I got this for christmas, I'ts salt cured... It is fine". He never threw up, but two other guys did by the afternoon. I was great. This is not an exaggeration by any means.

As far as the stitches go. They are pulled open again. Probably going to be a big scar. Oh well, I wasn't planning on winning a beauty contest.

I put in stainless steel sutures and use an E-collar on dogs that keep chewing their sutures out. Do I need to send you a big E-collar?
