Or you can make one of these nifty little tools and not cut up your coil. Takes about 5 seconds to get all the insulation and wire out.

the tool is just a pc of tubing that I cut some teeth into to make a deep throated hole saw.

NAPA or a place like that you want strand not solid core see pic above.
