GTA Jet Pilots Revival Thread

Thanks guys..dealer replied saying no crate and they won’t build one so that’s done with.yeah total cost would of been 15k including shipping, duty, taxes. looks like I have to wait for the border to open next year and hopefully Yamaha will still make a 2021 SJ. I have no idea about aftermarket hulls etc.. reading the parts list on some of the ads is like reading a foreign language lol. I do dirtbike and familiar with 2 strokes , not jet skis :(

Did find this though..

stay away from that ski, that’s all I will say

If you have that sort of budget post on southern ontario freeride on Facebook, I’m sure someone will offer something up. At least you have a good healthy budget, most people try to squeeze water from a rock expecting a nice Rn for $2000 Lol

I’m not a big fan of bob hulls either. I rode a first or second gen a few years back. It felt too purpose built. Not as fun to rip around on but easy to backflip. There’s a reason they named it Backflip on a Budget.

Quebec has been good for finding skis lately but they seem to be slightly more expensive than what you find in Ontario. Either way, follow the Facebook groups Ontario Standup Jetski, SO*ON Freeride, and Canadian PWC parts. Quebec has their own too that would be good to follow if you don’t mind traveling to get the ski. Though I think there’s still a quarantine order if you cross into Quebec.

If you buy used, I would look for foot holds, exhaust and pole mods. It’s not hard to spend $1500+ on your pole. A pipe is pricey too but makes a big difference in performance. The best pipe for a stock or stockish motor is the factory B pipe, but I don’t think they make them anymore (anyone feel free to correct me on this) and are really hard to find used. Foot holds are cheap but require ripping up the turf in the tray, cutting the hull and fibreglassing them in. It’s much nicer for that to be done already.

Good luck and don’t be afraid to ask questions! The Ontario rider community is an amazing group. Very helpful and friendly.

Good info! Thanks for your inputs . Will keep posted, if I end Up finding one this year , will let you guys know, maybe we can go for a rip

Pulled the skis out for the first time in 10 years as I have all this free pandemic time. Thought to myself I wonder if the GTA Jetpilots still exist, couldn't find the sub-forum but Google brought me here. Have to say I don't recognize any of the names but I was probably last active in 09. Anyone heard from Mr. And Mrs. Cattledog?

Does anyone have a line on any poles for sale, even a stock round nose would be fine

I have an aluminum sj pole sitting in the top of my garage I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Can't remember if it's for a round or square to be honest though. If you tell me the width of your mounting bracket I can let you know.

Ok thanks, most of the aluminum poles were for a square nose but I'll get the measurement. Mario and laurie are still around but everyone is starting to slow down with how much we ride these days.

Duds, I remember your avatar. I was into the sport and a couple of the forums years ago. I just got back into it too. There are still lots of the old GTA Jetpilots on here. It's not nearly as active as it used to be though.

how about a wasaga ride in august, wasaga is always good and might get waves?, going to come here everyday from now on lol

Spoke to Wasaga Pines about camping and there is no public restrooms thanks to Covid. I'd be down for a daytrip this month. It would be great to see everyone. I believe August 15th was the date people were hoping for. Let me know if your going Mario and 100% I'll be there. Might even drag Emily out on the GTI.

Just a wakeup for this thread. How was everyone's riding season? Mine, not so good. I got out three times. I don't have a ski right now because I keep finding broken things from my donor SJ while I'm doing my BAM build. Every time it takes 4-6 weeks to get parts. I expected to have it done by the end of August, but now I'm shooting for end of October.
