Gutting the stock waterbox???

I've searched and couldn't find a thread on how to gut the stock waterbox?? Are you doing it like a catalytic converter, or tearing it apart and taking stuff out??? Someone help me out please...

why would you need to gut it? that will just make it super loud. Just run without it and save yourself the hassle....

I was just reading a thread, and it had this as a free performance upgrade?? Figured it wouldn't hurt to look into while I had the waterbox already out.......

seems like gutting it would actually hurt performance. the stock waterbox in original form gives you the most hp. plus it would be super loud!!!

i think that having it helps with the ski at an angle and off, especially with front exhaust...keeps the water from goinng to far up exhaust

Most of the waterbox gutting is done for conversion ski's like the vintage 550/650 conversion's or a x-2 that is getting a 750 or 800 in it.

just to your ear drums, and that is a big negative
no performance advantage

the suggestion was mine- cut through factory welds holding halves together- cut out factory baffles- reweld together- my 01 box has been like this for years- yeah its a little louder, but not any louder than most other modded boats- never had any noise complaints- only compliments that it sounds good- on my boat (ported 760, 44s, high comp, rad flywheel, vf2s, bpipe) it felt like it revved out harder and faster- yeah ive heard of backpressure, but i dont see on a modded boat how removing all that downstream restriction could not help- just my opinion from an ACTUAL FIRSTHAND LONGTERM EXPERIENCE.

if you are running a dry pipe then yes, it will be noticibly faster reving (and louder)

i heard the stock Water Boxes with the baffles removed sound better than some of the AM water boxes.. i think im going to try it too? also heard of some gains in power but louder does feel faster too

just wait till you try my old ski (now Marcin's), similar to yours but more BRAP (both sound and power)
