Guys w/ coupler mod on x metal trim

Okay guys, what shape are you cutting your coupler to not blow out the side. I love this mod but I can not get the shape right so it doesn't blow out the sides.

Maybe less throw? I really don't want to do that.

Pictures would be great!

I tried 3ply silicone hose. Mine blew out the side as well. Eventually it ripped. Just pulled it off tonight.
Looking forward to some success tips.

Well I got @JetManiac 's way to work. I had to limit the steering a bit. But for the little bit of limiting I did, I'm still gaining a lot from the coupler mod. I can't ride without it.
The ways I limited my steering were, turning my steering stop long ways, and moving out of the nozzle a bit.(not all the way to stock) this lasted me all weekend with no trouble.

I would love to get all my steering back with this mod if someone knows how the x scream guys are doing it. Makes 360s way easy. But for now it's working until I hear of a better plan.

Okay I'll try it tonight. What does that do @onlyFX-1 ?
Make it where the nozzle rubs the clamp when you turn? Instead of catching the lip of the coupler and pulling it out?

Thanks for the tip

Well more positive progress on this little mod.
A friend told me to look at a picture @Wakerider26 posted and copy his. Found the picture, copied that, moved my steering to give me all my throw back, and it held all day! About 15 rolls and 15 360s with no blowing out. Pretty pumped.
The trick is to not cut it flush with the trim ring. Leave it hanging over a bit. I ended up cutting mine to 1 3/8 all the way around.
It does make the steering a little tight, but with vasoline and some riding it felt fine.
Also I pulled the clamp out a little as @onlyFX-1 said.

Hope this helps the guys looking to fix their coupler mods. I love the trim with this mod!

Did you run a thrust trim prior to this? Did you notice substantial difference between this and an ez pull setup?

No, just a modded protec.
The trim is all you need for flat water flips. It's actually really easy to pull I think.
And with the flow guard, the steering is like nothing I've rode before! It doesn't let any water by and flicks the ski around with ease! A must have. I don't think I could ride without it now.

I don't care what most say, I actually love this kit. Well worth the money. @mike b

Well I have the thrust and now of a nearby xmetal so maybe I give that and the coupler a try. Bummer. The thrust is beautiful but I'd rather look better on the water than the trailer! I think I know what I need to do next..

Yeah, the trust look great! But I'm the same way, I just want it to work the best. My hull is beat!!! My stuff is no trailer queen.
My buddy that had the xs kit says he's going get the thrust pro next time... But he couldn't get his coupler to hold either.

It's just crazy how that little coupler completely changed how my chan rides.

Im trying this out for the first time tomorrow morning in the surf. Hopefully i did it right and it doesnt slip off in 30 seconds haha. Accidently cut mine a tad short instead of sitting flush with the end of the ring. Looks like itll still do the trick but well see tomorrow.

Left side blew out on mine after about 40mins of surfriding. I felt a big difference when it was on, but it made the steering so stiff! Ill try it next time cutting it how you recommended with a bit hanging over the ring.

Yeah that's the key. Leaving a lip hanging over. It will make the steering even more tight. But i just use vasoline before I ride, and once in the water I don't notice it.

Yeah, ill have to bring some vaselene when i go with the new one. Im wondering if i can shave the OD of the hose down a bit so its not so tight, but the vaselene might solve that entirely.
