View attachment 189166Okay, here is the deal. I have a Kevin Bruins steering system. (works like an X-Metal with a straight pipe for the bars, but has a bushing instead of a bearing).

I CAN'T do straight bars anymore. I broke my wrist a bunch as a kid and it kills me. My old 4 degree bars worked great (stock bars are 15 degrees and way too bent for me), but I need a slight bend.

So, I need a set of bars that will fit my steering system, but still have a slight bend (riser bars??? What do people recommend??)

StarBars and UMI's will not work....because the clamps are straight, I will not go back to a bearing steering system. The Bruins one works fantastic...

^ Agree. I had my stock bars on my Pro bent down to 0* (before I got my straight set up). That worked well. It looks like you have enough room to bend them up to 4*.

Cost = nothing.

Renthal has some "Road Sport" flat bars made from aluminum. Don't know the "angle" but if you whip out your SohCahToa you could figure it out.

Width is 724mm, center is 215mm so your "adjacent" is 254.5mm. Pull back (opposite) is 60mm. (based off their website)

im in the same boat with the wrist issues, just went to mtn bike bars with some bend and sweep,much better.
you may be able to redrill one hole on the turnplate for each bar clamp then use a set of bars with a bend (4 deg etc) i have a xft steering plate on one of my skis that has a 2 bolt holes on plate that allows either straight bars or a bend bar depending on what hole u mount the bar clamp in.

agree on bending the bars as well,done that also. xft plate.jpg

I was curious what that angle came out to be on those above bars, so I figured it out to be about 13*. Seeming like this was a bit high compared to our "4 degree" bars, I decided to measure some of my 4* bars and figure out their real angle. I ended up with 7.5* roughly for 4* bars. For a point of reference, the pull back is about 1.125" on these 4* bars.

Cannibal, are those 4 degree UMI? ...I loved those....maybe I'll get a pair of those and re-drill the plate (AFTER I screw mine up trying to bend em, hee hee). Anyone else using anything with some bend to em?

...more worried about them being equal on each side and not going down one way and up the other....doubt it will make them weak...unless 4 degree bars are normally weaker?????

The pic (and link) I posted was of the Renthal bars. I don't have personal experience with them, but you wouldn't have to redrill your plate since the center is straight and only the outside is bent.

I'm not honestly sure what 4* bars I have. I do know I hate straight bars.

DJ, I HAVE THE SOLUTION!! Motoine Racing makes just what you need, Two piece straight bars that bolt to your turnplate. Slotted holes allow you to adjust the angle. :party: Hot Products sells them, Part#: MR-SXR-012
