Harbor Freight Double Trailer review

As you can see on this link: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=30795 you can buy a Double Ski Trailer from Harbor Freight for 479.99 + shipping.
I bought one a month ago for $399 (it was on sale :Banane01: ) and I paid $49.99 for shipping.
It came via freight (the name of the freight company is Yellow) from California and took 2 weeks to get here. I got 3 boxes, everythings was in parts, nothing was premounted. Instructions where unclear, I took one week to put the trailer together working around 2 hours a day :banghead: I am not a handyman
The trailer is made in Taiwan and the brand is Long Chih Industrial Co.. It came with a certificate of origin so I don't think the DMV will give me hard time to register it. The trailer year in the certificate is 2005, I was excpecting 2006 but no big deal. It's under one year warranty by the US distributor ARMOR REX INC (http://www.armorrex.com)
The maximum load is 850 lbs so it will only be good for 2 stand-up or 1 stand-up and 1 couch.

im sure it woulda been better in the long run.



harbor freight is a great place. they have a store down the road from me...

i have that trailer
i got it off ebay
i did some modes to it and use it in salt water
also clearcoated it too
made the trailer back in '02
so it's 4 years old now
when i intially got it, it took about 3 hours to put together,
didn't use the instructions

the mods below added time afterwards

the dislike about it is it's heavy, would rather an aluminum one.

mods:
larger tires
stainless steel bolts
storage bin
bradshaw jug rack
wheel stand
guides on bunks
mounted lights upward on guide posts
cut some of the metal off the trailer, kept dinging my knees on it

I have the same trailer and it was a pain in the a** to put together. I do have to say that it is working well. I have about 1000 miles on it and no problems so far. I do plan on welding it this winter and putting larger tires on it.

would either of you know the exact dimensions of the trailer as far as the length and the width from the edge of each fender.

sorry I just saw that harbor freight lists the dimensions, but do either of you know if the actual overall width of the trailer is indeed 6ft x 7in?

I just measured 66" from end to end of the front cross bar.

What is the deal with that offset adapter for the front SJ mount? Did it come with that?

I assume you needed to use it because the SeaDoo pushed the SJ off the center of the frame rail (where the nose mount would normally go).

Does this trailer feel flexy at all (since its only bolted)?

I just measured 66" from end to end of the front cross bar.

Is the front cross bar the widest point on the trailer or are the fenders the widest point? I'm trying to get an exact idea of how much space this would take up in my garage.

The cross member is the widest point. Just add 2" to be on the safe side.

thanks for the info. would you recommend the trailer? how solid is it without it being welded and just bolted together? I see you're going to weld yours, is that because you're not happy with how solid it is?

i just need it for a b1 and sj. i work at west marine and can get stainless hardware really cheap so I planning on using all stainless when I put it together.

Yes I added this part, it didn't came with it, it's actually a spare tire mount. The seadoo was to big so I had to move the superjet further on the side.

No it doesn't feel flexy at all.
