JP is a scam money grab. I get the feeling that they have meetings and try to figure out how they can make their crap cheaper and charge more for it.
They are THE anti-quality company to judge all others by....
Their gloves typically last about 1 ride. My JP vest went to hell in one season. The one pair of their 'boots' I owned came unglued in less than a month. And this is all freshwater use, if that matters.
Are you using their Comp APEX vests? Zippers, buckles, and seams are still good on my three year old Neoprene. The nylon has one summer on it, zero issues. Their gloves have lasted about one season, but I loved them. $24 ain't bad. I ride at 3-5 times a week for 20+ minutes from March-December. Average 10+ gallons of 50:1 oil a season.
My slippery 2/3/4 John Wetsuit is like 10 years old. I rode with it one year back in 2006, then it sat until 2012. I've been using it alot and still no issues.
I can't remember which line of their vests I had, since I tossed it. I've tried their gloves twice (bought a pair and got a pair as a gift) one pair started splitting after a week, second pair after one ride, and it's not like they were way too tight or anything that should have caused it. So $24 is about 48 times what they are worth, IMHO. No idea how much oil I go thru in a season, but I ride pretty much every day April thru November (I live on the water, so it's pretty convenient to do so). And I'd imagine your Slippery wetsuit is made by Slippery, not JP, which is a good thing.
I was just stating my gear with the Slippery info.
Thanks for the JP info, sad to hear the quality fell off on lots of their products...
