Has anyone tried the Group K Big Bore 850 kit on the SXR?

I have single cooling and sounds like you do too. The water line comes in from pump, thru bulkhead and to a plastic tee Group K provided. One side (straight one) of tee goes to the bottom of exhaust manifold (main cooling). The other goes to the filter Group K provided. Out of the filter to another tee with jets that Group K provided. (Inlet of tee no jet ,two outlets have the jets) One side with jet goes to the top of square exhaust chamber, other one to the bottom of that same pipe. Two water lines overboard, one from the rear fitting on the head, the other from the exhaust right by where the exhaust hose attaches to the pipe. other fitting on head loops over to the exhaust ( I see that in your photo)

Photos don't show routing too well, but you can see the filter and tees Group K provided. This is the outlet of filter and tee with jets.

This is the main cooling line coming in to the tee and then continuing to the manifold. The tee splits off to the inlet of the filter.

I turned the stock pisser location into my bilge pump outlet. And added two new pissers. You could use the stock pisser and just add another one.

You are a lifesaver, thank you so much. Going to order some new water lines and another fitting and get at it this weekend. How do you go about flushing your ski out now since you've got 2 water outlets? (They also provided a garden hose connector, but I am unsure of where to install that to blow it out properly). I hope all this added work will pay off. Almost making me wish I stuck it out a little longer with the dry pipe, lol.

No problem, glad to help, I know what your going through. I ride in fresh water so I rarely flush my skis. Look at the photo you posted, on the water line that comes out of the head and loops over to the top of the exhaust. That 45* fitting in the head isn't stock. The stock fitting is a tee and the flush fitting hose goes on that extra outlet. You can see it in this photo of my stock engine.

That hose goes to the flush fitting for a garden hose to attach to, its on the bulkhead where the handle pole attaches.

If you don't have that factory yellow fitting the 1" hole will still be there. You can run the hose from the head and use the group K fitting if it fits the hole or just run the hose from the head to the fuel tank straps and zip tie the fitting there. Make sure it doesn't leak if you do, that location is inside the hull.

I will also add there are lots of schools of thought and opinions on running water lines, what I have outlined is the way Group K told me to run them. One pisser will flow water at idle and one will only spit water. They both flow when you get on a plane. The outlet water does seem a little hot to me, but Harry told me that is fine and I guess 200+ hard hours on our engine with no issues proves him right.

From what I am told 03' was the year they never used that fitting you have on yours. I've been looking for that damn T forever..

Just saw this post doing some SXR research so I figured I’d chime in. I’ve had my GroupK 850 SXR now 3yrs and it’s used very frequently, at least 3 times a week. Absolutely zero maintenance, and runs like a champ, and is stock reliable.

I wanted stock parts and I didn’t wanna mess with a $1000-$1700 rattle-trap pipe set up cracking and vibrating loose. The 850 also does not use ignition advance that the aftermarket pipe requires which probably lends itself well to longevity. I also wanted a “4 stroke” kinda pull without an erratic “on/off” hit from a pipe.

I was so happy with my SXR that I just built another 850 for my GF’s SXi Pro.

These are great reliable set ups, with great gains, keeping pretty much all your stock parts, running at stock RPMs.

If you’re like me and getting old and tired and you don’t wanna mess around with 19 brands of mismatched aftermarket crap for $5000, all bolted up for 3-4 more mph, just so you can spend your summer tweaking, tuning, and fixing rather than riding.... then the GroupK 850 is for you.

(FYI you can add a pipe to the 850 if Group K has replaced the stock sleeves.)
