Helicoils in head bolts.

I bought a cylinder that was .5 over in need of a bore and it appears that there are several helicoils in the cylinder. Is this something to worry about? I'm about to have the cylinders ported and was wondering if I should look for a fresher set of cylinders or would I be Ok? I'll get some pictures posted later today.

Should be fine. The threads for the cylinder head are kinda crappy.

Those holes that have the helicoils are better than they ever were.

I personally have one or two that have coils.

I would personally be more bent about that fact that it's already .5 over.

A ton as in 5 at most? Consider 20% of the money you spend on porting that cylinder wasted. I'd certainly consider that more of a drawback than a few helicoils.

5 is alot of overbores. and doesnt prox do quarter sizes too?

ya if u blow up your ski 5 times you got other issues haha. but no problems with heli-coils, they would probly be better then stock threads if installed right IMO

I have had to use them on several occasions from the cylinder to head pipe bolts as well and they work great
