Wait, you guys are drilling out the oneway valve to vent a stuck valve? haha. Why not just remove the valve at that point? Valves like anything mechanical wears and needs replaced. I'd suggest replacing the valve with a new one unless you are smarter than all the engineering teams the OEM's hire. (with that said my surf ski is vented open air haha)

Had a similar problem last summer and I fought it for about a month and spent a couple hundred dollars in parts. Ended up being the start stop switch, even though it tested fine. Just a thought, not sure if your start stop switch is brand new also..........

A fuel leak can be as troublesome as an exhaust leak and have a similar affect as well. I ran into that a few years ago. The ski would idle and putt around all day but die after a minute or so of hard riding. It wouldn't start back up right away but if you let it sit for 30 seconds or so it run normal again till the next hard run. It would never do it with the seat off so I started looking for an exhaust leak but instead found a couple dribbling fuel hoses so I put zip ties on all my fuel lines and the problem disappeared.

Let me know if it does come back to the coil and I'll make sure you get taken care of. ;)

I would check a few things:

To test the coil, try closing the gap on the plugs a little bit and see if the issue fades or goes away. I had issues with coils and my engines, where they wouldn't keep up. Closing the gap ultimately "fixed" the issue but I replaced the coil with my own.

Are you positive there's not an exhaust leak? Hole in a coupler or small leak often can cause smoke to fill the bilge and choke out the engine. (I'm sure you would have seen the smoke, but I know you're immune to smoke.)

Pin hole in the fuel line like someone earlier suggested. If you're priming, it would make sense it runs for a little bit and then falls on it's face.

Just my initial thoughts.

I had the same issue, it was my start stop switch. I couldn't believe it because it was not the usual S/S switch symptom. Unhook the black/white wire, if that doesn't fix it, check the CDI, especially if it is a HX3

Well i think its your tank who dosent breathe. If you say that the tank makes noise when you un-screw the cap? That gotta because the tank makes vacuum?

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
Well guys problem solved. We put a jet in the return line. And drilled out the tank vent. Ran 5 gallons threw it zero issue. I'm gonna get another tank valve and try it to see if it was the jet in the return line. I wish we would have done the return line first then drill the vent so we could narrow it down but f it the ski runs flawlessly. Flipping in flatwater isn't a problem at all. Next step water injection on the pipe.

Glad to hear you got it running good. What size jet did you use in return line?

What is the purpose of putting a jet in the return line? Keeps more fuel in the carb?
Exactly ,some brands of the larger aftermarket carbs come with the restrictors drilled out ,so they will flow more fuel .but they will flow to much fuel without a jet in the return line .the purpose of this ,is just another way to fine tune the amount of fuel delivery on your "thirsty big gulpers" also aids in keeping em primed up .at least Thats what i was suspected of with wilkeys new 49mm set up. carry on with your braaappppage !
