Super Jet Help Choosing the right fiberglass cloth/resin

Alright, ive been looking on uscomposites, and theres way to many choices.

Ive never done any fiberglassing before, but i imagine it cant be that bad
I just bought a SN hull (have a build going) and while its torn all down i thought id do some fiberglass work

I want to reinforce the hull (if its really needed?), I have some cracks/holes to fix, also going to be doing the sn hood mod, and probably going to refoam so would need to glass the tray back in, and possibly some body work.

what would be the best all around choice to get? and also, how much would you guess roughly i would need?

Thanks

if you plan on riding surf 17oz knytex/biax lasthull I reinforced I got 2.5yds and did the bilge and tray and still have a bunch left. Buy epoxy resin and get it by the gallon otherwise you get raped. I like to fill the bondling with 5200 because it flexex. Squeeges make it easy to wet out the cloth

im not going to be doing a ton of surf riding, probably just 2 weeks out of the year. is there an advantage to kytex/biax? or do i need to go that heavy?

ok,so for the tray, 8.9oz type s glass would be my best bet? i guess ill just get a bunch of that for everything, heavier is probably better. How far does does this stuff go? how much could i glass with 1/2 or 1 gallon of resin and like 10 yards of glass?

you can glass a lot with that much.. its nice to have on hand and you already have to pay shipping costs so its prob better for the long run, i wouldn't even bother with the tray unless your going big.. if so just put a layer down, as far as the sides and front of the boat.. 2 on the sides and 3-4 up front and under pole mount area.. and be sure to get epoxy resin

Those only reason i was getting some for the tray is for when i defoam it, and glassing the tray back in but ill be sure to do the sides and up front. is 1/2 gallon of 3:1 epoxy resin good for 5 or 10 yards roughly of cloth? or how much would you guess?

I'd be lost without the x
Just get a gallon man, you never know when you'll need it again and I found during my first glass job I was pretty wasteful with my resin testing things out and what not.

S glass is a little stronger than E glass by about 25%. You'll have to use epoxy resin to truly benefit from the extra strength though. Most polyester and vinylester resins will crack before you can benefit from the strength of S glass with those resins.

I used to use the 1708 Biax, but US composites and aircraft spruce & supply (my two main glass suppliers) changed their vendor for biax. It used to come as straight biaxial weave glass, but now it comes with chop mat on the backside of the cloth. For that reason I now use the 1208, since the 1708 soaks up A HUGE amount of resin. I now believe that it is just overkill. For other general glass jobs i like to use the 8.5oz 2x2 twill weave cloth form US COmposites.
