HELP from current Chan owners

dont order anything from steve. waited over 6 months for 3 chans and they are all junk.

I will agree with the first part of that statement, But the second part is a bit of a stretch. Theres definitely some issues that need to be addressed and a lack of quality control but my hull is far from junk. aand just to be clear you didnt order or wait for anything.

All 3 are junk. Crackie Chans. You are right i didnt spend any money and didnt have to wait for any of these buckets of sh*t.

Your word doesnt count because you already have 6 months and 4gs into that hull. And coming from a 550sx, even if he sent you half a hull, its still an improvement. You should be happy you received anything after hearing what he did to Christian. Why else would you have started this thread. Some one was nervous....

IN my opinion if you spend that kinda of money on a new hull you shouldnt have to do any composite work after delivery. You paid to have the glass/carbon work done for you so you dont have to. I feel bad for anyone who took delivery of a pre turfed ski. All the flaws that would be covered by the turf is sickening. I stepped into Zack's holds and thought i broke the tray. Its only a little more than a 1/16" thick.

Zack's hull also had absolutely no prep work done to the tray prior to the foothold install. Underneath the glass was a layer of sparkle paint. As a result, all of the glass came up in one piece. Only thing really doing its job was the rivets. I'm no pro in the composite world, but had it been prepped correctly all of that paint should have been removed prior to the glass work.

If you are so confident in your hull let me take it for a ride. You know i can find any weakness on any ski real quick. Can put as much ice cream into a bucket of sh*t and its still just a bucket of sh*t.

I've been pleased with my Chan so far. Phil's landed some high backflips on mine with no issues so far. I do really like the ride of it, and I hope mine holds up. The real test will be when I sack up and start back flopping mine.
I did store 14 gallons of water in 2 plastic jugs in my tray bouncing down the sand driving to the ride/camp area at Carolina Beach this weekend, and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with mine. Sucks that your tray is weak.

Thank god someone posted something positive! I just spent six months building mine and I'm ready to hit the water. I was about ready to slit my wrists with all this!!

Mine is doing good. I have at least had 60+ back flip attempts, with no problems. There have been a few time I have flown over the handle poll while still holding on an though that I would have for sure crack something, but nothing.

Zacks footholds are a hack job, no question. I couldn't tell you why he would completely neglect Such a simple step. My footholds were a hackjob too but they are atleast bonded.
Before I did anything to my ski I stood I the tray with one heel centered and bounced as hard as I could. The tray flexed but there was no cracking or popping. Leaning around in the footholds as much as I could without flipping the ski didn't yield any noises or flexing.
I added 2 layers of the carbon to my tray because I was worried about stress cracks devoloping over time. The tray is SOLID now, no flex.
I'll let you ride my ski, but if I see you trying to break my ski ill be riding yours into the middle of the lake popping the hood and tipping it over. You have no business on a lightweight hull, ever .
Your superjet with 30lbs of reinforcing is ready to break in half. Just because YOU can break something doesn't mean its junk. You belong on a surf hull, you have 100lbs on me and you ride like your ski just slept with your sister. Zacks tray is a mess I'm not arguing that, but if you wanna talk poop about my ski maybe you should atleast see it first. And so everyone knows the last 6 months dealing with Steve was a nightmare and at one point I wanted to smash this hull with a baseball bat just so I could send the video to him. That should give you a idea of how rediculous the process was.

Your front hold can be crushed by one hand.

Thats 80% of my argument right there. $4000 into a hull and you have to reinforce before it even hits the water. A couple of flops and you will be doing the same to the rest of the ski. Is it not a little fishy that the molds go up for sale right after he finishes these last 3 ski? Sounds to me like he made his money, cut a lot of corners to get these 3 done, and is now out of the crackie business.

You are correct i have no business on any pole ski of any kind. I am rough on my ski, but No one ever goes out to try and break something. Sh*t just happens.

Yeah we got our hulls, but they were all far far from water worthy... Oh and we didn't get any of our hood pin hardware ... And doubt we ever will
