Help! Heavily corroded pump removal

Trouble getting on plane...? Sounds like you need a lightened flywheel!
And trimming up won't help get on plane. You want to keep the bow down initially...

The Solas trim nozzle has a large range of motion in both directions (up and down) I'm hoping that having the nozzle trimmed down will help getting up on plane, and also possibly keeping the bow down in choppy waves. I'll never know 'till I try!

The trim function will be connected to the reverse lever on the left side of the console since the Solas pump doesn't have a reverse bucket

Actually staying trimmed down makes you plow. A boat gets lighter and lifts up when you start to trim up.
Trimming a boat up when at idle and trying to get to plane makes the bow point towards the sky. Engine has to work harder to push the boat up and over its bow wake before it can level off on plane. Trimming down lifts the rear of the boat while the front of the hull pushes itself up. Boat rises up much more level and engine doesn't have to work like it's climbing a hill.
Ever trim your ski at low speed? Stern sinks and bow points up and you don't go so fast. Same thing whether the boat is 8 feet long or 35 feet long...

Sounds like a plan.
Can't you use the nozzle you took off to keep reverse, though? That seems like a little more important on an actual boat.

Maybe as a future mod, but for now I just want to get this all reassembled and out on the water. I haven't had reverse on the boat since I bought it 'cause the cable housing was totally rotted. Haven't really missed having reverse so far

Who said he was trimming at idle?

I stopped reading your post half way threw.
Your whole post is based on an assumption.

I'm very experienced driving boats up to 55ft.

That act of getting on plane means you are starting from a slow speed where the boat is acting as a displacement hull and accelerating to plane where the boat is riding on top of the water instead of plowing through it.

Your seriously wasting your time. I agree with everything you have said. Assuming anyone would use trim at idle to get on plane is absurd though.

I apologize for jacking your thread OP
