I am new to yamaha. The story behind this machine which i just bought it has a 760 bored out to 790. It had the cuffman pipe installed with a b-pipe which he never installed. Rickter fs3.

Will i need to rejet the carbs? What settings should i preset the b-pipe too?

Are the chambers the same on 701 and 760?

Is it really worth swapping thr cuffman pipe to b-pipe?

That was a race pipe. It weighs around 21lbs with water. B pipe is under 15.

If you don’t have a cylinder girdle and ecwi don’t bother even trying

Try what? I have the same setup on a octane.

I am not sure what is inside this motor yet. All i know it has some sort of aftermarket head, r&d intake manifold, aftermarket carbs

Post pic. I wouldn’t even bother with the Coffmans pipe if your not racing. the powerband of that style pipe is not linear and as others have said it lacks low to mid. That’s why 90% of every superjet that has a pipe has a B pipe and most that don’t would if they could find or afford one

lightening series dry pipe. this was one of the best pipes for creating power in old race boats. great pipe if you want to go fast and not jump your superjet, cause the bracket don't hold up.
i'd like to see whats under the hood of that octane also. I see the nozzles in the pic with the manifold.
post some pix of your whole assortment. everybody likes to look at pix and if you don't know what you got, I myself and a few others can take one look and let you know more about what you got than you and hours of research. lol

Sorry i think i got everyone confused.

The rickter came with 2 pipes. Coffman and b pipe. Orginally it was runing on the coffman pipe. I want to install the b pipe instead of the coffman pipe.

In my box of parts i have an extra steering nozzle with a blue ring inside and a ride plate. Anyone know what model they are?

I've got a couple old ADA girdled heads from old racers that were engraved 785cc. I think with a stroker crank and big bore is what they had to get 785. I don't know why somebody would engrave 790 on there if it wasn't. I know you can punch out a 61x to 84mm and I heard you can even go a hair bigger.
by the purple color of those press on bells, it looks like you got buckshot carbs. probably 46s.
the way the hood opening on the left is ground out to the hood seal , tells me it once had an R&D dry pipe on it. the preferred race pipe back in the day.
that looks like a rough rickter hull or is it a clone?
