You'll regret the kawi swap down the road. Go with the 144

I went with the 144. Cut out the tunnel and cavity, and glassed in one from an SJ. Love it so far. i run a superjet rideplate and intake grate, and if i want to go mag in the future, i easily can. The only hurdle i had to get over this route are matching up the chines, and it wasn't much of a hurdle. they blend together pretty well.

im in the same boat with my fx1 build. ive decided to go with the 650 pump for now cause of the ease and price which will allow to pay for other mods. also I've heard it has good performance with the r&d pump stuffer and a sxr prop. then later down the road ill probably do the 144.

The 144 will make more low speed thrust IF the whole inlet is changed. Its a lot of work without previous composite experience. The Kasasaki swap is easier and works about as well with the small FX1 inlet.

More evidence you should go with the Yamaha.
