I'm about to be making a down payment on a am hull real soon here. Couple weeks. I ant decide what I want. I've never rode any am hull at all. No one up here rides enough that I know of.
I ride everything. Surf. Lake. River. I Have surf skis already. I have progressed enough that my hull is holding me back on flat water. Whatever ski I get it will have a basic 701 pakage. Pipe. Head. Carbs. A prop. And some steering. I won't throw a ton of money at the drivetrain.
At this point I am stuck with either a backie chan or a gen 3diy bob. I don't have a lot f money. 4k n a hull is a investment for me but I love riding. I am also considering used but probably not.
My concerns are going to be what is most all around. What is going to be the strongest. And who is going to handle me the best when something goes wrong. I live close enough to both builders I could show up in person. I will not be selling it. Ever. I don't sell things. I use them till they fall apart or I just stash them on the side. So resale value to me is moot.
I chase boats a lot. I will ride miles out in the lake sometimes. I also like to ride right at shore and just beat the snot out of the ski practicing. I want an all around hull but can't afford a super freak.
Id really like to be able to ride them both and get an idea for myself. I know I can learn to ride anything eventually. I just want a all around ski that can also do flips. For me it's not even about the flips as it is being able to get more pop out of the water and the pole placement.
If anyone has ideas or maybe could recommend other hulls I'd appreciate it. A gen 3diy bob would save me about a grand but if ats the cost of ride and quality I'd rather pay a bit more and be happy.
