Help me pick a ski

Yes. It's a very dead horse. But nobody has discussed these skis in a while so wondering if anythings changed in a few more years.

Picking up two skis this season. A superjet and a couch.

For the couch I'm looking to spend about ~3k or less.

So basically in that range I really like the rx. I want super light weight but very stable for two up when needed (thus why I'm getting a couch too).

I've found a 03 rxdi with 26 hours for $3k. Also found a carbed rx millennium with 110 hours. Both appear good condition. The millennium is about 3-500 less. Which would you choose?

I don't need a rocketship. Just a stable couch that can jump and carve and have some pep. My last couch was a 96 slt680 lol.

I'm thinking I get that 26 hour rxdi and hope I have tons of hours left to treat it right and avoid the 951di issues.

Cheers mates! Been out of the ski game for 2 years so I'm back on the site!

I am not a DI fan either, what about keeping it Yamaha? GP800R could be a good choice, if you put in new powervalves/linkages, and new oil lines...

What about a carbed rx tho?

I like the gp800r. Just hear that an rx would eat it for breakfast.

I'm open to suggestions. Trying to stay under $3k. Just want flickable and quick that'd be stable for two up. Dont want a 3 up. Don't want something like today's 800+lb boats.

Good call on the gp1200. A carbed rx is not a bad boat but it will not blow a power valve 800 away. Very similar performance.. The 800 might even pull away wide open. Riding 2 up and staying flickable is no easy task

It doesn't have to be 2 up and flickable at the same time. I need a machine my girl feels safe on and I can cruise around with her on the back. But can also take it by myself and jump/carve with it.

Gotcha that opens things up. I've thrown a leg over almost every ski that has ever been on the market and can honestly say 96 xp or 97 spx (800cc in X4 hull) are some of the best skis to play on. Plenty quick, nimble and love to come out of the water. They go cheap these days so you could thrown some of that 3k at the jet.

I have a SN SJ 760 in GR if you are looking.

Wanting a 08+. I missed out on a sick deal on a mint '10 with b pipe, vForce, R&d intake. Ride plate intake grate, grips, bars, turn plate, footholds, dial bilge. Professionally built. Sold for 5300. Sold 2 days after it was posted on Craigslist. I just couldn't get there in time.

Xp sounds awesome but for 2 up I've seen people struggle. I'm 210 and the girl is 130. This why I started looking at the rx. I get a sense people hate seadoo these days but I've always liked them.

I have a mint one...and it is fast....and fun.....but a very good friend of mine is a seadoo tech and told me to sell it ASAP! Parts are getting very expensive and seadoo is discontinuing many of them....

^^ Agreed!! ^^

I learned the hard way when I owned a 96 XP800, in 2006 parts support became NLA (no longer available) from BRP. The dealer and several other reliable dealers and sources told me that BRP only maintains parts production for 9 years and obsoletes on the 10th year. Look up some of their 2008-2014 commercials on YouTube...pay attention to the closing catch phrase... "built to last a decade of fun etc..." They used that slogan as a double intention, 1 to give the image that they won't need substantial maintenance for a decade (we all know that to be a corporate lie) and that you will only reliably get to repair your craft for a decade to continue having said fun. BRP... Burning Recreational Purchasers since 19whenever.

I love the GP1200NPV. Not the best cruiser, porpoises a lot, it's like being in a rodeo on the race track, but a good surf jumper.

Picked up some skiis today.
$3400
2000 rx carbed millennium edition 61hrs
2000 gsx 800 RFI 170hrs
2007 Karavan double delux trailer
Couple gal of oil, covers, and unopened new seat covers. Vts works on both.

Still hunting for a superjet. The search continues!

Thanks! That fusion has a bunch of nice goodies on it. You should see the headlights at night. I help run a forum for them, 2gfusions.net . I moderate and cut the decals.

Feel free to join! tons of great info. I'm sheldon2es over there.
