Super Jet Help! No idea WTF is going on **updated with pics

I have no idea whats wrong with my superjet! It wont rev up at all.

My SN has been running perfect since the start of the year and is practically brand new this year. I sent all my electronics to JSS to get rebuilt this year, ebox, coil, stator, ss switch and even tied my bilge into the ebox. I bought a used bigbore 61x/62t the was rebuilt by Jetworks, new dual 44mm blackjacks jetted for the motor and a C75 custom pitched by Art. I also bought a new Epic that Art gave me curves for.

Everything has been running perfect for the last month and a half, but now all of a sudden I can't get the ski to rev up or plane out.

It was running fine on saturday, but when I went out saturday morning my bilge was running. I tried to shut it off, but my switch was already turned off and when I turned the switch on the bilge seemed to have more power. WTF?

I said screw it, I'll just leave it on and go ride. When I tried to start it my starter could barely turn the motor over, so I figured my battery was low. When I brought it in to change my battery I noticed one of my carbs was loose. So I replaced the gasket and bolted it back down. I threw the battery in it from the blaster and tried it out. The motor was turning over very slow, but I got it started. So when I went to ride it thats when the revving up problem started.

I've checked everything I could think of, but I have no idea whats going on

Check to see that you have the carbs sync'd correctly. Was helping wasteland with his ski. This is what we found. Rear carb was way off. Ski would not open up.

nope.... could be a reed sticking?

delta v force (if your running them( have a tendancy that the cage comes apart and creates an air leak

however it also seems you have an electrical issue if your bilge is operating on its own too....

First off, you need to replace that bilge switch. It's shorted and toast. Your battery was dead because the bilge switch was leaking current.

Since you said the ski turned over slow even with the blaster battery, my recommendation is to check your battery cables and make sure they are tight. Then charge the battery and go back out with a fresh charge. My bet is, all of this crap will be fixed since you already caught the bilge switch and carb. Cross your fingers because sometimes it really is as simple as a dead battery.

Similar to what waternut said. If the battery doesnt have enough charge it can't provide proper power to your ignition.

Clip the bilge wires, throw in a fresh hot battery and see how it runs.

I would hope this isnt your problem but that is exactly how my fx1 acted right before my crank seized. It would barely start and when it did it wouldnt get on plane well at all. After a few more tries it finally locked completely and the crank (along with some other parts) were toast.

If everything else seems perfect you could always split your cases and inspect the crank. Kinda a pain to do though

I've actually had this happen as well. The problem I had that was caused by the crank was because the shrapnel from the crank bearings damaged the plugs.

I didnt really know what my problem was until the crank locked completely. When i pulled mine apart the bearings were all over the crank case and up in the cylinder. If youve got the ski in a shop it shouldnt take long to pull the motor and check the crank.

Would this be detonation caused by water ingestion? Theres no damage to the sleeves

No, absolutely not.
First off, deto is not caused by water ingestion.
Second, that's something bouncing around on top of the piston and implanting itself in the dome. I.e. ring pieces, sleeve pieces, perhaps a crank bearing.
Needless to say, I'd pull the motor and disassemble.
Sorry.

EDIT: Judging by how dirty that piston is compared to the other one, it's clear that there is a lot of blowby going on. I'd say you lost compression on that side.

Shadow may have been right. That blows... Looks like a new top end and a dome at the very least. Probably a crank too.
