Help on getting my Ski to perform at its best

Hi

I have a Bun Freestyle Z UFO. DASA 1200cc , pump gas, 210PSI, 50cc Domes, 50mm SE Speed Magic Ninja carbs (jetting by Chris), MSD TL, RRP Carbon exhaust (wet pipe), 160mm Maxx pump with 12/19 Skat trak impeller by Impros. Riding only freestyle and in salt water. I just did a full engine rebuild and changed from a 155mm pump to a 160mm in the process.

It feels like I can get more out of the ski, its kinda not performing as well as it did before I did the rebuild and smaller pump. Could this be because of the Maxx pump or is there other
places something I can change or adjust to get it going a bit higher.

Shoot me with what you got.

210 psi ? Pump gas ? And Msd Tl, are you at 32 or 33 on your ignition timing @1500 as well ? Or running less timing because of pump gas ?

prop pitch seems tall to me ?

have you ran your set up by Chris ?

I agree with Harbor the prop seems tall. I have similar setup and i run a 13/19 in a 155 skat pump with my dasa 1200 at 220psi on pump gas so 12/19 at 160mm seems big to me. Maybe a smaller pump cone and open up the nozzle diameter if it is possible.

I have asked Chris about the pump but he said he cant help because its a Max pump and have no experience with it. I have 3 pump cones, using the middle one at the moment. Will slap the small one on and see if it makes a difference. When I ordered the impeller from impros I asked them and they said 12/19 should be fine. I have no clue when it comes to pitches etc.

@harbour - I will have to check what the timing is on as I havnt done that myself. Do you think I need to change the timing?

Cant read your curve without your static timing info..

where I was going with the timing questions is be careful with pump gas and that much compression and A lot of timing... that’s an expensive engine.

also a pump gas set will leave some power on the table...

here’s an example of more appropriately pitched large mag.....keep in mind skat pumps normally have a 75mm hub

but a max is normally an 83mm hub...


you might reach out to Brian at torrent pumps and ask his advise. I bought a max pump from him a few years back so he may be able to guide you on the pitch some...
