My advice is if you havent already, is to go rent a ski from a large competitor and get your copy of the contract. Look it over real well because their lawyers have thought of every silly scenario that can happen when it comes to rental watercraft. Dont copy it word for word, but maybe have a lawyer make you one in the like manner. The contract is the only way you can never get screwed when you have to go to court with some D-bag in the future.

Also take pictures of the ski all the way around and up inside the pump to take pics of impeller. Also take pictures with flash through back of pump too. I worked at a rental company once for 8 months and part was during busy college spring break time. I saw a bunch of nasty stuff! Drunken spring breakers denying everything! lol

Thanks superjet-113, that is great advice. Its pretty difficult to get any information from the guys in the business because of the fear i will take some of their businesses away. Im also very concerned about the insurance. I heard it can be very difficult to obtain if you do not have experience in the field which I dont and that it can be quite expensive.

You aren't going to get advise from local competition but start calling guys a few hundred miles away and you might find someone willing to share some wisdom

You definitely need a location on the beach, not even worth it if you can't get one

I live immediately on Biscayne bay intracostal waterway and I am constantly seeing jet ski pulling out, one day I counted a total of 15 at one time, cant for sure say they were all rentals though. I heard it can be pretty difficult to get a spot on the beach unless you partner with a hotel which is even more difficult. a lot of the guys out here are doing it from marinas

Considering the price of 5 new jet skis, insurance, storage, location, cost to fix the skis, fuel, permits.... oh and dont forget, this is a seasonal activity. It just isn't lucrative

You have to spend money to make money. If he never try's he will never know. You live and learn and could possibly succeed. Never say never. Make moves or you'll always be stuck in the same spot wanting and wanting.

I thought about all those things but as far as season, its pretty much good weather all year round here in Miami. The only thing I could think about is of course the hurricane season but even during those times there are alot of good weather days but I could be wrong.

Thanks Factory928, very encouraging really appreciate it. I may have to spend money in the beginning but as long as there is a market it will pay off in the end. I just need to get with someone already in the field.

I do know you have to have a location to rent from and the insurance is expensive, I believe there are only two companies that will insure rental operations, we used to rent Seadoo GTS's back in the day they were way detuned, stainless impellers removed and aluminum ones put in, slack put in the throttle cables and we had special intake grates made that barely anything would fit through, bilge pumps that ran anytime the ski ran were added, it's a whole different ball game with the rental skis being four strokes now.
