Shifty

- SuperJet Thursday -
It goes on the mid-shaft housing. It is bolted on using two of the the three bolts that secure the housing to the bulkhead.

yup.... what shifty said.... and remember to put the blue strainer on the bottom of the bracket FIRST before you bolt it down... then snap on the top part

does the engine need to come out for this? it looks like a tight fit. also do i need the plastic coupler cover or can i just leave it off?

you do need the plastic cover... it snaps into the top and holds the unit in place. It is a little bit of a tight fit.... dont take the engine out.... you have to take the coupler cover off, have some extra length of wire added on the existing wire if you need it (and with heat shrink tubing on the connections if you have it... if not harbor freight)... seems like most people add a 10amp fuse in the line as well......

Then pop the two bolts off the midshaft housing and stick the bilge bracket on with the blue strainer already installed... then put bolts back in and pop the top part of the bilge on.... then send the wires up to the battery.... put some eyelet thingies on the ends of the wires and then hook up to battery.... good to go.

oh.... whoops... I thought you asked if you needed the blue plastic strainer for the bilge.... yes you need the coupler cover... like said above it keeps the water from splashing around and getting in your engine...

Make sure your output shaft coupler does not rub the bilge. If it does bend the bracket away from the shaft and re install untill it clears.
