Hi after my first 8 months with my ski , im looking at making it more nimble in the water, i know its only an sx 650 , but i love it and i wont to keep it for now,i mainly ride surf, sometimes flat . i already have

Bilge pump

umi bars

pole limit rope

alloy modded pole

turfed side rails

finger throttle

pro ride plate

r&d intake

unknwn s/s impellor

performance spark arrestor , with outerwear cover,

so im thinking

quick stear plate

D cut the pro ride plate

foot holds re-turf (over the winter)

what do you guys think, i just wont it to dance round a bit more easy,

Mick

so far mate, (with all respect), it sounds like alot of cosmetic upgrades....
Find out the prop #'s, you want a nice low end prop (swirl)
get an a/m pipe, a/m carb, a/m head, the list can go on....depends on your budget. But these will all 'wake it up'

No mate thats a fair comoment, i have had highly modded sit down skis before and seamed to spend more time in the hul than on it , up to now the sx has been the most reliable, hence the will not to mod the motor to much, i was hoping to make it a bit more Moveable beforre i started messing with the motor,

If it isn't already convert it to pre mix. A Mikuni 44mm sbn carb and some more compression really wakes those 650's up. An aluminum water box is also a good mod for the 650's & x2's because you loose a great deal of weight from the nose. 650sx's are the easiest ski to make your own footholds for by carving out and shaping the foam. There is nothing in the tray to get in the way.

I will second the 44 carb and bumping the compression,it really dosen't have that much effect on reliability and its way faster, the waterbox may be a good mod if you can find one that isn't loud as atrain wreck as for mine I am putting a modded stocker back in it the PJS box is just too loud for my tastes.

What about a pipe? I don't know anything about a 650sx but a little more HP alway makes things feel more nimble:biggrin:

BTW your pole is sexy!

Make sure your plate is a flat plate like stock. If it has any skags or fins it will help to D cut it but sell it and D cut a stocker to it carves around nicely. you might not like it for the first few rides but when you start surfing and carving on waves more aggressively you will love it.

Look up the threads on the 650 SX pipe mods they cost basically nothing and make a world of difference on that boat! I am not sure if there is a thread here but there is one on PWC TODAY for sure.

Like Speed racer said changing the water routing on this motor makes a huge diff. The Factory Pipe costs alot and really doesn't make enough more power to justify the cost. But the newer Factory Pipe on these skis is actually more reliable than the stocker. As far as motor mods go the carb is the most restictive part on the whole ski. I think kawasaki was going for range rather than power when they put that carb on there.
