Help with rn damper gap

Hey guys, everywhere I've looked the answer I got was to have the couplers 2-3mm apart

As you can see in this picture mine is way off but that is how it's been

Everything is aligned correctly(checked before I pulled motor to do motor mounts)

It's a 96 rn with a raider 701 in it, is the coupler on the raiders closer to the motor?

If I slide the motor back to 2.5mm the bolt holes for the mounts won't line up

Maybe your midshaft is pressed to far into the housing

Crack your bed plates loose and make sure they all the way forward. Sometimes you can gain a lil there

I'd loosen your engine mounts and see if you can make up the difference there. There is a little leway in the mounts.

I ended up pulling the midshaft while I had the motor out, shaft looks pretty scored like it moved in the past

Hoping that's all it was, after all it is probably the original one

You want about 90% spline engagement. Taping the midshaft out is just going to hurt you further down the road. A couple $1 washers is the way to do it.

I will check all bed plate bolts but the shaft was definitely moved back and was close to all the way in, I can't remember what my measurement was when measuring the distance but I know it was more than 22mm

There's your answer right there isn't it supposed to be 20 ish mm

Yeah it's supposed to be 19.5-20.5mm

I press the midshaft in as far as I can for max spline engagement. I make up the coupler gap in the engine mounts and coupler washers.
