Other helping a guy i work with 94 seadoo xp

Well trying to help a guy I work with having problems with his seadoo. Says it will run good out of the water but won't rev up past idle once in the water. Just bogs right back to idle as soon as he hits the gas. I'm going to start with rebuilding the carbs but I don't have much experience with couches so any advice or tips would be nice. Thanks a lot.

Plugs are new and compression is good he said. He also said that the last couple weeks it has gradually gotten worse and worse and now it's gotten so it's not rideable. Going to tear into it tomorrow.

All the fuel lines need to be replaced, use regular 1/4 automotive fuel line for this, it takes 15-18 ft depending on the boat. Everything must be taken apart and cleaned including the fuel filter and fuel selector valve, be especially concerned with any place a hose connects to something as the crud builds up there. Use q-tips and Berryman to remove the crud from inside the fuel spigots.Of course check the needle and seats for correct popoff pressure and check the main diaphragms for pinholes and flexibility, if they look bad at all replace them. I do three to four sets of these a week here.

if it has the grey fuel lines in it, they've got to be yanked out as has already been mentioned. Don't forget to clean out the on/off/res switch too.

Also, (I'm not familiar with the GTX) check the carbs...if those have the accelerator pump on it that can be trouble too, and not just from the fuel line gummies.

if no beeps or anything when attaching DESS lanyard, it sounds like a bad DESS, a bad DESS post, or the MPEM crapped out.

...or, the battery died and you need to do the DESS 'reset' trick that I can't remember right now...something like pressing and holding start for 5 seconds or something?

sounds to me like orings are shot. out of the water runs fine, in the water the pump is pushing water past the orings into the cylinders and killing the spark. easy way to check, run it on the hose and then check for water on plugs. prob run until you turn the hose on, then you know...

seadoos drain batteries, people always say batteries are good. they lie lol

alright takin a break from this thing. If anyone ever asks you to help them with there seadoo make sure you tell them you are busy. Ive got both carbs off and rebuilt, and all the fuel line replaced. Now i have to put the carbs back on and figure out why it wont even turn over at all? Is there a fuse on this thing somewhere? When you push the start button nothing happens at all, all i can hear is switch clicking but thats it. The battery is charged. He said it turned over just fine the other day?? Also i found a line that went to nothing and im not sure where it goes. In the very back of the ski there are three oil lines zip tied together. Two big ones and one small one. The small one goes under the motor to the front of the ski but i cant see where it goes? Any ideas? Thanks again for the help. Im dreading putting these carbs back on.

lol another update. well i think this thing is the culprit. saw some smoke come out of it and was super hot. Would this thing being bad cause it to gradually run worse and worse and now not at all and maybe the issue was never with the fuel system...??

It sucks your having issues. I have a nearly bone stock '94 Sea Doo SP. It is super simple to work on and runs perfect all day everyday.
