Crap! You're opening a can of worms there.

If you haven't ridden before, I recommend a sit-down until you get bored with that.

Everyone has their own preference on what the best ski out there is, and almost noone will agree completely with anyone else.


My advice: start here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_watercraft

Don't worry too much about what the best out there is until you are comfortable with the sport. I'd go for what the cheapest is, first.
