High compression domes = snagged rings??

Ring gap on our project was 0.016 that should have been enough. Running 38cc domes for 40 gallons now without issue. Comp is the prob. Trimmimg up the rings may buy forgiveness but if the comp is good then we'll just run it with 38cc domes and be done with it.
