I have never understood that... African Americans (generally speaking) are very athletic, quick reflexes ect.... I would think they would be great swimmers. Maybe it's a geographical thing... Large numbers of African Americans live in Urban areas away from lakes, swimming pools and Ocean???? Hmmmmmmm?????

When I was in the Navy there were several Black guys who could not swim... most were from the inner city areas... They guys were like 19, 20yrs old and had no clue how to even doggy paddle... and they are in the Navy? how Ironic huh??

i have a friend whom is of the dark skin he had a gp1200 a few years back he loved to go ride but was deathly afraid of the water! no he cant swim. he will go 120 miles out in the gulf on his fishing boat but wont stand in 4 feet of water ive been tring to get him to get on a standup for 6 years now!ha
