It was an interesting weekend at Hugo. Went out Friday after work, rode in some beautiful surf, and sank the ski once again. Getting it started in the dark and riding to burn off the water is a scary thing at night. Anyway back to the boaters.

Sat we are heading out to the break and I notice a boat up on the jetties. I guess these guys were fishing and didn't realize the tide was going out. So looks like they are stuck there for 12 hrs or so until the tide comes back...sucks for them.

Sunday we are heading out to the break and I see a sailboat with the mast down right in the break area. Didn't think too much of it, yesterday there were boats dropping off surfers so I thought that is what it was. I ignored it for a few minutes them saw a person in the water without a surf board. He saw me and started to flag me down. I went over to see if he was ok and he gave me the thumbs up. A few minutes later some sit-down boys showed up and were talking to him. A few minutes later I see this tall skinny guy pushing this huge fat guy back up into his boat. Apparently he tried to put his sail up and got tossed off the boat when a wave hit him. No life vest, no ladder!!! People have died because they get thrown off the boat and can't get back in.

We talked to him a little later and told him how bad that could have turned out if he was in open ocean.

You got to love boaters!!!

Just remember anyone can buy a boat!!!!

The Best is to sit and watch at the boat ramp! IMO you should have to take a trailer driving class to own a boat, last time out we sat at the boat ramp while this dumb a** backed his boat in & out 30 times. I think we waited 15 minutes between that guy & another loading his boat.

How were the waves up there Wilkey? They were big here but it was a washing machine...still fun though. I say its like mud and motocross. If you can ride good in the crap you will be a much better rider in the smooth.

On the plus side... At least the dude in the sailboat didn't get tossed when he was lowering the sail. Also, he's fat....he'll float easier.

did you see the photos of the captain thrown from fly bridge of a sport cruiser and died a few weeks ago? I think it happened at Jupiter Inlet.
