you could make a stencil and paint the numbers to the hull...........upside down.

i've also seen people get the numbers stamped into a piece of stainless similar shape the stock HIN tags, and just rivet it in like the stock tags. From my research, that is what you would have to do anyways if you registered a custom made boat in California.

FYI, some titles don't say the model of ski, just the make and length.

CA is one of those... model name is no where on the Title or Registration slip.

I live in PA. All we do is take all the receipts and some pictures of our builds to the Boat & Fish Commission. They have us fill out the paper work, and register the ski with all new info. Goose did it last year on his top deck conversion, and we have to do it this year on both of our top deck conversions. The Boat & Fish also will replace any lost registration paper work, and HIN stickers. For a $2 fee of course.

In Florida it is a simple form and a few dollars to get a HIN for a custom-built ski.

I have had two done this way. And if the craft is under 16 feet there is no inspection required.

I need to do that...I dont want to title my rev as a 95..not that it really makes a difference in the long run, but.....

It'll be just as easy to do it the "right" way, and it's only $5.25 for this plus regular registration fees added to that.
