Hitch hauler on a 3rd gen Tahoe?

Anybody here use a hitch hauler with a 2007-2014 Tahoe? And if so, did you need to install an aftermarket hitch? I'm finding a lot of conflicting information about the factory hitch class and maximum tongue weight.

I don't currently own one, just looking at options and Tahoes seem like a decent all around SUV.

My class 2 on a jeep wrangler can hold a superjet full of water (lol whoopsy) for a few hundred miles. If it's class two or better i'd be happy.

I have a 14' Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory class 3 hitch and have had no issues with my hauler. You won't have issues with a Tahoe.

I used a class 2 on an XJ Cherokee (unibody) without issues, I'm sure the factory Tahoe hitch could handle it.

I agree i have many customers with tahoes,yukon etc .. NO ISSUES at all take a look at this pic .. if a HONDA PILOT can do it .. you've got no worries

I did it with a 96 s-10 blazer with a harbor freight rack with some 2x4 held on by some L-bracket from at Pete to Daytona one year, no issues. Much more concerned about the rack than the hitch.

Pretty sure all the Tahoe are frame construction. Basically a truck with a factory topper and fancy bed.

If it's rated for 500lbs, I wouldn't hesitate to put a Superjet on it.

For real, also, just because your hitch can handle it, don't assume your vehicle can. I've seen one that started to pull the frame inserts out of a unibody SUV.

I never really knew how thin unibody was until after installing the hitch on my wifes mazda 6 to carry a few bikes. Crazy thin metal.

ya Uni-body vehicles are funny that way.... some are VERY strong stamped steel, some are VERY thin stamped steel.. guess it just depends on your specific model/make
Now as for the Harbor Freight cargo carrier ($49.99) ... i want to say that the main tube on that badboy is somewhere around ..060 wall square tubing... where as you should be using .250 wall square tubing for ANY reputable cargo carrier/hitch hauler/motorcycle carrier/ electric wheelchair/scooter/. Do NOT TRUST a $49.00 chinese mass-produced cargo carrier to transport your 1000.00-20000.00 stand up ski. (unless of course you like watching your ski slide across 4 lanes of traffic on the interstate!! nuff said

(edit: that's Chris's hitch hauler I'm using. I really like it and get a little bit annoyed at people taking pics of me when I drive because I'm usually a shirtless tool driving a lifted jeep w/ a standup jet ski on the hitch and Alaska plates in Texas..uggh)

I just bought an 02 TJ that has Smittybilt front and rear bumpers on it. The rear bumper has a receiver in it but is not tied into the frame well enough to support any amount of weight.
Do you have any idea what bumper was used here? Or maybe a separate receiver? Or something custom built?
