Home Made Vin's Vs. Swaping Vin's

No need. I will report to Palm Beach Police and see if they think it is legal. I cannot believe mods on this site are letting this go and deleting my posts. Oh well.

demon nailed it . the titles were used on aftermarket hulls such as the rickter fs-1 . these boats are ligtimit purchases by me . others would vouch for that if needed .

Can you not just get a home made vin number? In nj you ust have to show up to the state police and they look over your boat and confirm it is "home made" and give you a vin sticker to put on a hull.

by the letter of the law it's probably not legal. These A/M guys are typically buying new or almost new skis and putting the running gear in a new hull. Have you ever tried to piece together a ski from nothing but parts? It's expensive as hell. These guys are just trying to get rid of what's leftover and what they don't need. It's not like they're running chop shops.

It is one thing to buy a ski for the guts. Another to pull the title and vin and then sell the left over hull to somebody that does not know any better. Now a business openly doing it to make money off both the after market hull and the scrap hull.

When they should do the right thing. File for a proper title for the aftermarket hull. Pull the parts from the superjet and then sell the left over hulls with title and vins.

You can piece together a aftermarket hull and a mild motor/electric package and come in just over the cost of a brand new Kawi/Yami.

Then they storm your house like hungry vultures just looking for a reason to not give you a title but in the end if all is legal and you bitch hard enough you will get a title.

It is worth it IMO if you have the time/money/patience and do not need to use dealer financing.

The sales thread clearly stated that the hulls come without VIN's.

I know...I don't get it. I heard it is like 60 bucks and some scrutiny from the man but it has to be done IMO.

A dick move is selling a hull without title and HIN and then letting the buyer loose the entire ski because you did the wrong thing in the first place instead of applying for a homebuilt title.

if your stuff gets repo'd because you were too naive to ask the questions as to what happened to the title and vin numbers its your own damn fault

Not for new stuff. If an a/m hull is 3k, which is the cheapest I know of, then you only have 3k to buy engine, exhaust, electrics, pump, midshaft assy, fuel tank, cables, motor mounts, bed plates, steering, start/stop switch, pole, etc. It can be done with used stuff, but I don't see how you could with new stuff.

Hey Ski, you really do not want to buy a ski from me in Alabama. There is no Titles on any boats or ski's in our state. Many states also are like this. NO TITLE.

i don't know which other thread is in question here, but on a related note, what if you legitimatly own your ski but your HIN plate has crumpled to pieces??? Can you reproduce your plate?

Technically you would have to contact the manufacturer I think. They can send new ones.

maybe it was a copy of the registration? I got an NJ hull and I seem to remember that the reg paper looked quite a bit more "official" than a standard reg

This is the problem with america today. People do not give a crap about others as long as they get theirs. How about looking out for one another. Helping people and helping our sport grow. Instead of screwing who ever you can because you are too lazy to do the right thing in the first place.
