Homemade beach cart

Hey all, so I've been thinking a long time about building a beach cart and today I decided to act on the idea, used an existing scissor stand that can still be used once ski is in the water after pulling 4 pins, disconnects into 3 pieces for easy transport and storage. Attachments that go on the end of the lift are constructed of 3/4" galvanized pipe, most likely will have them welded up when I get the time, for now solidly screwed together. Each tire is rated for 300lbs so I'm good there as well, Bob weighs about 275. Also the height is set to slide right off of my single trailer and hopefully soon to a hitch hauler. Pics will follow. In total I came out to 149$ with tax of 8%. Not bad for a beach stand and cart combo.

Does that $150 include the scissor stand?

If not IMO you got too much tied up into this and a few unnecessary fittings.

My approach would be to chop the radius off the scissor stand on one end only then insert your 'U' with pins. That will make your handle a better height. The. On the wheels get rid of the 90 and go directly into the SS. You could add feet to the other side but may not need or want to. Lastly load the ski on tray towards handle then it will drain out, see the "want" above, and also make easier to transfer to trailer, etc.

I've wondered why ac racing didn't offer a similar design for a shop stand. I have been thinking about similar but for a shop stand. I just haven't gotten around to it. Since you've done a lot of the leg work, I may jump on the project a little sooner based off your work.

I do agree that you could have maybe done it for less and maybe a little prettier, but it's hard to fabricate with few tools and limited design ability. You get full credit from me.

If the future, I'd suggest finding aluminum piping on Amazon or eBay and finding a good priced welder. I found a guy local that does a good job very cheap in the evenings. The metal is amazing cheaper online compared to anything you can source local.

Yes I agree, I would like to do it with aluminum but I've yet to find anyone that welds aluminum for cheap here. At least now I have the dimensions if I wanted to go aluminum down the road.

Ask a lot. I couldn't find someone for a long time. 1st guy never did the job. Second guy did it wrong. 3rd guy is great. Took me a long time. Don't give up. Finding a good (and inexpensive) welder is tough but it's great once you do.

All you need to make an AC stand into a shop stand is a homemade dolly of overlapped 2x4s with 4 swivel lock Castor's and 4 u bolts. I use a ratchet strap around the front of the tray and around the stand for extra insurance.

4" poly wheel lock swivel Castor's are like 8 bucks each at home depot.

Cool setup, IMO if this is truly a "beach" cart them tires are gonna sink fast on the wet ground and it will suck to get in and out of the water. Made that mistake before, flotation tires are a must. I'm currently building one using 3 wheeler rear axle and tires.
